  1. I probably should have mentioned in the opening post that I am colour blind On that chart PMS 279 and 285 look close to me.
  2. We use a system where the driver yells at the marshal who is talking to someone else or on his phone and that is about it. No limit on the number of offs we occasionally use track calls if there is a major off in a hard to reach place or if someone takes out most of the field. We are pretty casual about it all. DM
  3. Hello all Neil has done a bit of work getting the Outhouse back up an running. There may be some broken links but for the most part it is all good and working again cheers DM
  4. Thanks for those photos Gazza they are very useful. Question is what is electric blue? I also read that they painted the car 'Shell blue' for the 1969 season. But then what is that In some photos it looks like it look a bluey grey... I had look and think Vallejo Andrea Blue looks close cheers DM
  5. Hello all In 1969 it seems that Norm Beechey ran a Monaro and Peter Manton a Mini it what may have been a team. Both cars were painted blue with yellow and red stripes. Here a some links to pictures of the cars https://autopics.com.au/69174-norm-beechey-ht-monaro-peter-manton-morris-cooper-s-lakeside-1969-slightly-out-of-focus/ https://autopics.com.au/69069-norm-beechey-hk-gts-327-holden-monaro-hume-weir-28th-september-1969-photographer-jeff-nield/ Here is another car from 1968 in similar colours http://www.theracetorque.com/2020/04/the-cars-stormin-norman-made-great/ Its the first pic on the page. looking for suggestions for the blue colour thanks David
  6. wow - the good thing about this thread is whilst my memory is fading I can look at this thread and realise I have been back into slot cars for around 12 years now. That make me feel a bit better - when I look at all the cars I have I can rationalise it down now -..... that is only xxx cars per year that I have bought DM
  7. What brand is the primer you use? I read a tip by another resin caster - he takes a couple of photos of his resins before undercoating and then before painting - the camera on the computer screen shows up things the eye misses. DM
  8. I am not sure but suspect that Paul must have had a bad batch or something. I have lots of XPG and standard PC tyres and they are fine. I have had a half dozen or so go red and fall apart. Mainly 1/24 tyres - I can't recall if any 1/32 tyres have done this. cheers David
  9. Had a go at casting a body. First up is the Maserati 250F Will do the BRM and a Mercedes W196 next
  10. I had a look at the topic Alan referred to and I also can't see an option to post a reply to it. Could it be because it is in the News and Announcements section? Can only moderators post replies in there? cheers David
  11. I would recommend saving (choose print PDF) anything you want. cheers David
  12. Think Phil has retired from running it. You can access it via the web archive https://web.archive.org/web/20191201095553/http://slotcarouthouse.com/
  13. Hello Wondering if Hornsby Slot Cars is still running? Anyone live near them? I have looked at their website and was trying to find out if they have the listed BRM cars in stock but can't make contact with them. thanks David
  14. You can buy aftermarket guide blades to replace them but you shouldn't need to. Scalextric cars work fine on Carrera track. What car are you having trouble with. There may be some other things people can suggest that will make the car run better. cheers DM
  15. Hello all I have started playing with 3D CAD using Tinkercad - after struggling to get my head around Blender and Freecad I like the simplicity of Tinkercad. Anyone else using it? I would be keen to hear of any tips and tricks that you have discovered and please post some pics of your designs. Knowing what others have created helps to learn more about what can be done with the program. Here is an example of a chassis I am playing around with. Though I already have seen lots of changes I could make to it.
  16. Nice haul - hope they arrive soon. I had my eye on that yellow e-type
  17. I am wanting some decals from Spain but decided to hold of on my order until things settled down. Bit more confident about ordering from the UK and the US now that I was a month ago.
  18. Hi Chas Couple of things with adapting a 1/32 chassis - the wheels on 1/24 cars are larger and thus the axle position isn't correct. Also 1/24 wheels use 3mm axle so need 6mm oilites so the standard 1/32 won't fit. BRM don't sell an adjustable chassis. Scaleauto sells one but it it more designed for modern GT cars. I have considered the brass route and have made two. It doesn't appeal to me as a solution for the 15 or so cars I have. Sharpeways chassis are almost as dear as metal chassis once you factor in conversion and postage. cheers David
  19. All good - I am looking for a chassis that would be suitable for converting some 1/24 kits such as the re-released Tamiya bodies into slot cars. A few metal chassis options available but they cost $70-$100 + per chassis. I have found a few options on thingiverse and have a mate with a 3D printer. What I am keen on doing is designing a chassis myself and then getting it printed. Thought if you are in the 'development phase' it was worth asking. cheers David
  20. My order from USA arrived yesterday - posted 22/4 arrived 26 May a bit slower than usual. DM
  21. When you go to activity and look at unread content - how do you read the new post instead of going to the original topic. I tried to read one tonight and I ended up on page 1 of 380 pages. Easy enough to get to the end but confusing because I was expecting to go to the post rather than the topic home page. So I went back to try again but couldn't work it out. LOL
