Hi Guys,

This may not be the right place for my first post, but I think it's the best one for my intention...

Let me introduce myself: I'm Brazilian, 52 years old, participated in the '60s-'70s slot frenzy but left the hobby when the winged slab wonders started to get the best of it. Came back to slots about 3 years ago, but in the scale slot format. I live in Foz do Iguaçu (pronounced Iguassu) in southern Brazil, where we built the Warehouse track at our condo. We race mostly Slot. Its (2 Classes), so I loved it when I came across the proxy racing system: it gives me the opportunity to build a bunch of different types of cars.

On an other Slot Board I came across the Down Under Proxy Race, which immediately got me hooked. I've been reading about your proxy challenge for some time now and have met (on the net) some of the guys who are part of it. So, if there's a place on the grid of next year's edition of the DUPR, for a crazy Brazilian dude who loves slot racing, I would gladly send a car. :o

Cheers and thanx for your attention.

Hey Big Dog, wow, WIR is quite the raceway.

I am "in your hemisphere" depending on how you slice it that is. Closer to your time zone, put it that way.

Wow, I am doing landscaping now and holy cow, I am going to stop complaining about how much I have to do.

A couple of things, I have a very close friend from Sao Paulo. I think "crazy Brasilian" that is a bit redundent isnt it ?

I dont detect any portugese accent in your writing, are you sure you are Brasilian ?

Just how far south are you ? I am trying to lure my friend in Sao Paulo in to the hobby, whenever I see a Brasilian track I send him the links. Right now, he is probably still recovering from Carnival, so perhaps his resistance is weakened.

cheers, look forward to seeing more of your scenery progress.

Yo Guys,

Thanx for the welcome: think I'm gonna like it here! Poor "you"...

To tell the truth, John, if I were to do it again (the Warehouse Track), I'd do it differently. You see, my metal chassis-lexan bodies-foam tires-Mura-motors past influenced me a lot when I designed the layout - it even has 1/24 spacing! I unfortunately knew very little about 1/32 scale slot racing at the time (not that know much today...). So, if I were to build a new track today, I'd go the 3 laner, Targa way: much more scale like, better to landscape, more technical (slower) and certainly more pleasurable to drive on. Our track is just too damn fast! That's why we only run Slot. Its and NSRs.

I'm located more to the south-west of São Paulo, which is some 1.100 km from here. Our city borders Paraguay and Argentina - both separated by bridges. It's a nice place - we're the little blue point in south-western Brazil, below. I don't know if I'll succeed in posting the map, but here goes my first try...

As to the lack of accent in my writing, don't worry, you'll find that sometimes the language barrier can be a problem for me...

Phil: you're a gentleman! That 2nd place can only be compared to finding hair on an eggshell: very improbable! I really don't know how it happened... :) Lovely to find you here!

Cheerio lads!

Hi Jaak!

Great to see you're here too: man, that's a lotta good people around here!

Yo, concerning your trip to Brazil (they gotcha, eh?!?!), why don't you have your honey-moon here at Foz do Iguaçu: a lotta people come here for that... cool place, you know, lots of stuff to do. Well, I know you'll be busy with the bride, but... B) ;)

Please do "bug" me when you have more about your trip down here: it would be awesome if we could meet! Oh! And thanx a lot for your offer: you're a gent!

Ciao! :)
