Been looking around the net for a while, trying to find suitable background pics to get blown up and put on the walls behind the track, but can't find anything suitable. Just discovered my new camera has a "panorama" and "stitch" feature. So I went and tried it out, here's what I got:

Now I just have to find a hill with a good 360 degree view and take pics and put em all together....this is fun! <_<

psssst PHIL - we need a resin of a P76 quick smart please.

We could use it several ways.

First, it's so dang ugly other cars will be scared to pass
2nd, it's so dang ugly other drivers will fall over laughing, and I'll be able to beat them
3rd. I'll be able to hide a couple of extra motors in the boot space.
4th, if they do try and pass, I reckon the back end will be so wide they won't be able to get by it unless the track has 120mm lane spacing......
5th, it's so dang ugly .. oh, I already said that one.

<_< :) :P

Why are people so unkind to the P76?

oh and if your camera doesn't have a panorama option use a tripod and you can easily make your own.

you can probably find software on the web to do the stitching together a lot of the digital camera companies offered some with their cameras, or use a photo editor...

cheers

Hi guys,
also check this site out

http://www.slotters.de/

It is in german, but on the start page click on the

Neues Panorama-Hintergrundbild- 01.5.2007

and you get all sort of backgrounds.

Some camera software bundlles include panorama makers.
I use Arcsoft 3.0 Panorama Maker that came with my old Nikon 2mp camera and it works fine with any pics.

The most I've stitched was 11 shots from my Olympus E500 SLR.
None of these are really suitable for slot car backdrops but a bit of fun nonetheless... feel free to download 'em if they're any use (there's only one Spitfire in the Temora shot, I had the camera on motor drive).
They're all on Flickr here...linky
I'm a bit inspired to get some useful ones, I'm heading out to Rourkie's (Philr's) place at Finley for some digital mayhem this weekend so there should be some good shots of wide open spaces. I'll post 'em if I get round to it.

O just gotta tell you this story. When I was about um . .13 I guess, I used to buy a couple of car mags - one was Australian. Among the stuff you used to get, were articles where the motoring pazzarazi had done spy jobs around the world - and in Oz, on new, upcoming "secret" cars being road tested.
Usually these cars would have fake panels put over them to disguise what the real car was going to look like, and the journos would then postulate what the real car might look like without the fake panels.

Well blow me down, about 72' was it? they snapped pictures of the P76 being tested, and they made guesses as to what it might look like without the ugly fake panels....well you can guess the punchline eh!!! the car gets release....voila, panels . . . yep it WAS the real panels the pappas had snapped....ohhhhhh dear........
But it had 2 claims to fame, one, you could get 2 x 44 gallon drums in the boot, so it was great for farmers, etc
and two, the bored and stroked Buick/Rover V8 option was a dang good motor.

Go Onslot - this is a P76 Posted Image

Yep that Buick block was good enough to give Black Jack and Denny Hulme the F1 titles in 66 and 67.

Standing across the track and taking photos of the grandstands at Phillip Island etc could make a good back drop in photo stitch. OR a full length panoramic shot of Bathurst pits.

Thanks to tell whats a P76,
I was just on Google to look, whats a P76, yeah i found it :arggg:
I often wounder whats under the panels on the Mercedes, they cruise here around me the hole day and if you they the originals later, often thinking - with panels looks it better :D
I dont now if you now the small tuning garage called AMG? Thats in my neighborhood, and so you see here Mercedes with panels or blackcovers every day. :angry2:

I have a link to some good backgrounds on my computer at home Gref. It might have been out of Slotters DE as pitlane3 suggested. Wendy's at home this weekend - I'll suggest that she looks it up when I hear from her.

Oh yes, we know AMG very very well.
We don't see many in my small town, but I notice a few in the larger cities.

I have always been a very simple person - give me an M6 and I'd be a very happy man. But as I get older, I start to like the Mercedes coupes, I think they look good.....

We have a saying
When you are 25 you drive a Golf GTi
When you are 35 you drive a Porsche
When you are 45 you drive a BMW
When you are 55 you drive a Mercedes

.......and when you are 65 you drive a Honda

This is just because the "image" and reputation of these car makers is linked to these age of drivers.
