Here are some immutable facts:

  1. Recovery time from hangovers increases proportionally to increase in age
  2. Morning after shakes also take longer to disperse
  3. Your car will be first on track when the conection between my shaking fingers and the rest of my nervous system attains some semblance of normalcy.

Ok. Thanks to Sportsracers motivational skills, I manned up and got the qualifying done. Managed to shake the hangover after a couple of Strongbows for lunch...alcohol.gif
As a general comment, the cars are in surprisingly good condition after 11 rounds and all seem to have improved over the course of the contest, some considerably.

Qualifying was done in reverse order from the qualifying results for Round 1. Remember, Round 1 was run at 10 volts with a field of pristine, newly built Sports swedans. We have arrived at Round 12 which has been upped to 11.25 volts with a bunch of well used, well sorted cars.

The table below shows the finishing order for Round 12 qualifying, with postion and time for Round 12, position and time for Round 1 and the improvement in times between round 1 and round 12.

Astonishingly, every car posted a better time. The smallest improvement was .26 of a second. The biggest improvement was 1.22 seconds!! Scar, you will be getting back a vastly improved slotcar but that red can motor is still a beast!

Sprint topped the chart with a stonking 5.92 second lap ph34r.gif . Fastest car ever on this track (driven by me). Oswald was next fastest and was the biggest improver overall.

The biggest surprise for me was Mopardevil posting a 6.04. I was having such fun driving the car that i wasn't paying much attention to the audio lap time caller and really did a doubletake when I checked the results. BMR's Torrie was also a sweet driver.

My car improved by .44 of a second but slid from 3rd qualifier in round 1 to 5th.

Every car was under 7 seconds. I was well pleased to get Eno's Commode to post a 6.73!

KalbfellP and Hellrazor posted identical times but Phil's car was more consistent, lapping in the mid to low sixes every lap. Conversely, that little Froggymobile is like a handgrenade.

Very much looking forward to race day to see what the fast guys can do!

Would love to be there to help but my plane leaves Darwin at 2.00 am the following Monday (8th I think - SWMBO knows)

As for the cars getting better - it just shows that the cars really do get looked after during such events

Body wise maybe a bit scarred but machanically its nice.gif

I would've thought it was only natural to expect better laps times this time, as the volts have been increased from 10 to 11.25 between the 2 rounds?

Yes Steve,
have a look at the gun's first 3 laptimes.
He is so fast on cold tyres, and then just keeps punching the same times out lap after lap.
Might only change, when he drives his own car. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Would be worth coming over, just to watch. wink.gif

I moved up from 20th to 7th. Got to be happy with that!

Steve, can you note which cars in the top ten are podded? It would be interesting to know as this is a hot topic for DUPR 2009. If we could use this year's results for pod vs non pod then it makes it easier for people to make a choice for 2009.

Cheers

Paul

No worries. Thought it might be a useful exercise to matrix the field into podded/non-podded, inline/sidewinder/anglewinder, short can/long can and gear ratio

What a glorious day it was in Melbourme today, sunny warm and the final round of DUPR 2008.

On driving duties today we had myself, ESPSIX and Manimmal. Pitlane3 handled marshalling and photography. Catering by the good lady wife, minor distractions courtesy of the kids and the dog and a plague of ants that kept falling on ESPSIX's head...(don't ask...)

The cars were run over two brackets each of 2 minutes for a total track time of 12 minutes per car...well almost every car....

The first casualty of the day was McGregors Capri. About 1/3 into the second lap of the very first race of the day, the guide mount broke and the car was a DNF.

Bitman's Celica limped home with totally shagged rear bearings and a dislodged front axle. A number of other cars were making grinding noises as tyres reached their wear limits.

And to top it of, in the very last race of the last bracket for the day my Monaro spat it's rear body screw out and also limped home.

Podium places went to:

1st place: Sprint

2nd place: Oswald

3rd place: BMR

Fastest lap of the day went to Hellrazor with a blistering 5.36 seconds.

The racing was very close and there were some absolute ding dong battles on the day.

So without any further ado, here are the results for Round 12.

The overall place getters for the series are................well you'll have to go to the other thread for that!

cheers!

None of these photos were staged. Pitlane3 was positioned perfectly to catch the action, including Eno leading the field through turn two. By the time the cars had been through the carousel section the Commodore had been swamped. At one point the Commodore lost it's rear wing and there was an immediate improvement in the handling. We reckon that with a little lowering, lose the rar winga and dock the chin spoiler it would be a much improved car.

Dave's car went sideways, and lost it on what would have been a very hot lap, landed on its wheels and almost bounced back into the slot. Likewise Gazza's car spun in the same spot but was still in the slot when it nerfed by HMCSAT.... I swear that Gazzas car has a drift guide in it!

The collision between Scar and Antony's cars was an example of how wildly Scar's Celica would slide, how Antonys car just sat in the groove and how effective the wedge shaped Celica's were at nerfing the opposition!
