xw1970
After searching high and low for ideas I have started the design process for my Pit Lane for Kahoona Mountain. As today has been a typical barmy day in Melbourne I though I would have my first crack at putting pen to paper. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. pitlane3
Hi Andy, I will incorporate the same Idea into my Carrera track. Will be a while before I reach that stage, I asume, you found that german website, which discribed it step by step. I thought about putting a routed piece of wood after the in/out junction parts, but I have enough space for 2 crossing sectionin between. Keep the photos coming. NimROD444
Hi Guy's, Thanks for the kind words. BTW I used a two part epoxy to stick all the pieces together. I aligned all the parts face down on some industrial clear plastic the wouldn't allow the epoxy to stick to it. I used nails around the edges of the pieces to hold them in the correct alignment, then covered all the joints with epoxy and weighed it down with an old phone book, then left it for 24 hours. I look forward to seeing your results and final track layout. Regards NimROD
xw1970
About to move to phase three after marking out the pieces last night can anyone provide some pointers as to the most effective way to cut the rails. xw1970
Cheers Vlad Can anyone provide any assistance with regard to designing the driver stations to include control holder, pit switch, forthie holder and if there is software which could be incorporated to the track. pitlane3
Hi Andy, I am going to Brett's on Saturday, his driverstations are pretty good. Will take a photo or two. Will ask Brett about his software as well, as at one stage I will need to cross that brigde too. Quote "If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself." Shane Lott
Hi XW1970, Check out my track thread below and I am using both UR30 and Startline race software that both incorporate pits and "fuel" racing. Works a treat, very realistic and sorts the "drivers" from those who don't think and just run out of fuel and stop on the back straight!!!!!! Although my track is a perm routed system and I made the lane changers myself, I am positive I can "adapt" the switcher to any plastic track section and provide for the pit in and pit out so you can run the track in both directions. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Regards, Shane Quote ...Click HERE to visit my Viper Valley forum thread...
xw1970
Christian, was wondering if you caught up with Brett on the weekend, I thought I would wait for the Dremel to come this week before cutting the track. I am also working on my train level crossing design at the same time. Cheers Andy Quote "Going FORD is The Going Thing"
xw1970
Due to poor health again moving my office, designing the train level crossing and coming to the conclusion that plain straignts (2 x Full, 1 x Half, 1 x Quarter) did not give the pit lane due justice I have come with up a more interesting design, picture to come. The dilema is that I need two straights one 210mm and one 160mm half track width. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the most effecitve method would be to cut and shut a piece to allow retaining the connections at each end. xw1970
Made some progress watching the L&H it was a shame the day was spoiled with 10 laps to go The drawing of the pit lane concept before the cutting started Cutting progress Cut both the In & Out sections before cutting the R2 curves, better quarantine this to the workshop as I will need to fire up the Dremmel General concept of the pit lane minus the chicane as you come out of the R1 curves (not shown) Picked up this SCX digital lane changer which is being considered for flippers and mechanisim The spaghetti behind the scx piece is there an electrician in the house Once I have got this part under control more cutting will commence, pictures of the level crossing for the trains to come. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated Andy Quote "Going FORD is The Going Thing"
