Thought it best to start with the basics. The class needs to be narrowed down
The previous poll showed some good information re wants and not wants.

However as mentioned above over half actually said no to older GTs so lets ask the question again

Do we want to run sportscar (old/new)
or
Do we want to run GT type cars(old/new)
or
Do we want to run Sedans(old/new/modified)

We have already run classic Flycar type Lemans cars and Jap Gts so they are not an option next year

The previous poll showed a preference for Sports 1990 onwards the poll split the vote in two
If 1990 sports car is selected we can move towards finalising a list

GT is a spread over three options cos there is quite a range of car types.

To Sedans just ask yourself 'do you want to race sedans or not'. If the answer is yes then we can see what type should be raced in 2009. If the answer is not then we need not look any further into sedans at this time

I am just trying to get a better 'feel' for whats wanted so I hope you dont mind I will be using the polls thingie a bit whilst I clarify things in my head.

(and no I will not vote till a few others have else you will know what I voted for Dooh!)

Cheers

Post 90's sports cars 'cause I've got heaps to choose from. Some even go fast but next year I'll build a slow one, just for the Tassie tracks.
May the Downforce be with you

You don't need to build a slow one, just one made out of lead. :lbluebounce:

There must be lots of slot racers in tassie, itwould explain the "two head" thing. :o ;)

Can someone give me a example of each class, so i know what i'm looking at.

Poll will close midnight tonight so if you haven't voted do so today

Update on progress towards the 2009 DUPR

As I will be coordinating the 2009 DUPR I have been offered and accepted the kind help of
LBROKE
SPORTS RACER
WIZARDGM
KALPFELLP
ESPSIX

Whilst I will be the single point of contact for the event, responsible for communications etc LBROKE, SPORTS RACER, WIZARDGM, KALPFELLP, ESPSIX will be there to help with rule interpretations and of course much needed support and advise.

We are at present just putting the final touches to the regulations which although largely based on the successful events of previous years have gone through a thorough updating and checking process to ensure we have captured and hopefully answered issues that have arisen in the past. They are now quite comprehensive yet still maintain the freedoms we all like to challenge ourselves with when it comes to racing .

Each year is a learning period and hence each event has a better understanding of what we want from a proxy race.

We could now apply Smallnails methology to the votes and say that more people don't want post 1990 than do want them! B)

The post 1990 class will need a little more sorting to whar cars are eligible BUT these class of cars probably have more GOOD RTR cars than any other class.

Brett go back and look at my list.

List of cars

Sports: We have about 12 regular racers down here, we have the brains of 24 heads, but only 12 actual heads!

Phil

My thoughts too, I was expecting this poll to be for just two classes not five, no surprises in that I voted for the early 60s class......I think I'll just buy a resin Aston DB4 Zagato resin body for my own use anyway, thanks for the earlier heads up on where to find them Phil. However I am very happy to enter whatever class is run next year, I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two series and really appreciate all the work involved from those who organise the events and host the rounds. Roll on 2009.

I agree, with the number of GT cars released by a large number of slot manufacturers in the past 18 months, a GT class would be excellent. Lots of cars to choose from, plenty of scope for chassis mods.

Its got my vote.

I would think that there is enough there to say only one car of the exact model to be allowed in.

So we get a really diverse range of cars in there!

These just look like real cars to me, the LMP's look more like "thingies" than cars sometimes.

The post 1990 sports cars are well ahead in the votes so IMO the GT's are off the list any how. The post 1990 class will still need a lot of sorting to ensure that the cars are a like and hopefully get a good field of cars.

LMP stands for Le Mans Prototype? (I think) these are cars built only for racing as a prototypical design from my understanding whereas a Gt car may have a roadgoing commercially available variant. So a car like a toyota GT one is an LMP car although its called a GT  just to really confuse things lol Get it? An Audi R8c would be an LMP but a Mclaren F1 would be a GT. Technically I think a Mosler is a GT car. My understanding on these matters isnt as clear as someone who actually knows; so dont take my word for it :o. I wouldnt worry too much once a class is decided I think phil or someone who knows about such things will publish a list of eligible cars and we can pick what we want.
