Hey Phil, when are you going to run WPR 2008?

I do not lose races
It's just that they are won by someone else

Smallnails: This will have to be sorted but would certainly not be a GT. It would tend to fit in the LMP class IF it is allowed.
Anthony: Check Pendles site I think they still have stock IF resins are allowed once the class is decided. The early sports GT RTR are very limited so I would think that resin may have to be permitted. But I am getting off the track of this poll.

Please don't take this the wrong way Phil but are we getting ahead of our selves a bit here. the current series is still in progress and there is some other options posted on the other thread that aren't listed on the above poll. I think to be fair to those guys we should list them also.
If the Slot it RTR exclusion is still in effect the R390 would be ineligible for the series
While Ferrari tried to get the 250 LM homologated as a GT (said it was an evolution of the GTO) the FIA saw through it and deemed it a protoype. so I would think it wouldn't fit the class description. Mind you if it was allowed I could use my 07 car again

Pre-66 would be my favorite, with max tyre width of 7mm.....

I may have simply missed the other options what were they? Jeeps?
The only other class's that anyone seemed to show interest in was mid 60 to mid seventies and that was almost what we ran last year.
The other suggested class was pre 1971 Nascars and there is a lack of any decent RTR cars that would fit the class so most would have to be scratcjh built, much like most of this years cars.
I may have missed other suggestions.
Many people seem to still find scratch building a difficult. I just thought we needed a class with plenty of RTR options.
We can easily have a further polls after, I just thought a poll would be easier that several long drawn out discusions.

I just had another look thru that thread and once I discounted the "more novel" suggestions I found these. DTM, The pre 71 stockers, and my other suggestion of the pre 72 touring cars.
I just felt if they took the trouble to post a suggestion they should at least have the option to vote for it. admittedly some of those options do have a limited range.
As for the touring cars some of the guys may have the opportunity to field the Tassie resin Fal fal falc Falcons ...... there I got it out!!!!
Having said all that I'm happy with any of the poll choices.
I just hope we don't run out of momentum starting this far out.

Yes tis a long way out but thats what you do when you research a subject.
spend time collating info then sorting through what you want to present to the masses and then acting on feedback from a culled list/ideas sourced from the research that was presented (God that sounds anal but hopefully you know what I mean)

Can you guys give me a few examples of what cars are in this class 'Sports GT cars from 1955 to 1968'. I dont want to vote until I have a better idea of what we are looking at

While I had listed many of the LMP and GT cars I had not completed a list of early sports cars, simply because there had not been a lot of interest! I was wrong. While most of the thread had centred around the LMP and GT class it appears that there is a lot of interest in the earlier cars as well.
Mopar: The early sports cars can be divided into two basic catagories IMO. Front engined cars like Ninco Classics, Carrera,Revell etc. and the later cars such as the Fly GT40,Mk1V,Ferrari 330,Porsce 904, 906.
I think IF this class was decided on then a lot more discussion would be needed to sort the class, but there are plenty of RTR in both front and rear engined cars.
Once a broad class was decided on that would also tend to dictate some of the rules IF the race was to still be centred on RTR.

Down Under Proxy Series isnt it?
So why not race Scaly V8 Supercars. There is still a lot of scope for tuning without resorting to turning the chassis into a defacto "slotit pod installed chassis". I dare say just about everyone has a V8, so thats a good selling point. And Im sure the few overseas based competitors could get their hands on one. Would keep costs way down. Could even run it with a control tyre just like in real life.
Support an Australian race inspired category in the DUPS.
cheers
