I just finished building a Ferrari 250 GTO, how about 60's gt cars????
Really i'm not too concerned about the class, all about the learning.

Or should we go for a Late Lemans proxy where there is only allowed one model per field. one audi r8 in the field, one porsche 956, one r390, one pescarolo, one sauber, one so on and so on.
First in best dressed for car of choice, resin shells can make this a pretty interesting field, toyota 88c's for example.
Avant slots make some pretty fast cars now also!
Hrs2 and HRS chassis allowed, They would probably struggle down south here anyway because of the lack of room for weight addition.
We could have 2 classes like the real race, so people could enter in aston martins (gt1) and porsche 997's(gt2) or whatever they like as long as its been entered after 1980.

I think that the first thing that needs to be done is to look at what RTR cars are available in each class. This years class did not provide many RTR cars that fitted. While many people like to buil;d I thing that we still need to cater for the guys who want to simply tune a car and enter.
When martin originally came up with the proxt race that was his intentions and Lenny continued the basic idea. Steve had to open up the rules a lot more this year simply because of the lack of RTR cars.
Unlike Smallnails I would am against the HRS chassis's BUT with so many cars now available with seperate motor pods is really does not matter any more.
Maybe we can try and collate a list of RTR cars that fit each class and try and pick a class with plent of available cars and then sort the rules around that.
I would like to see a class run that we have not run before.
My suggestions are: Sports Gt cars from 1972 to 1982,(this period seems to always left out of racing and there are a reasonable variety of RTR available) or early sports cars say 1955 to 1968. These could even be limited to front engined cars. TV show cars are a problem simply because of the big difference in dimensions and lack of variety.
Sorry for the long winded reply but these things are not that easy to organise and sort.

OK, just a couple of observations:
Either make it one class only or 1 entry per entrant if you want to make it multi class. Too many classes could make it a very long night.
I think a little bit of a return to basics for the category might be in order. An Improved RTR series, if you want.
My Idea for a class - ALMS. You could make it LMP1's only, but just make it ALMS & you could cater for a very wide variety of cars from the Audi Prototypes to Vipers, Aston Martins, etc
Cheers

Just think of the fuel savings , the Tassie crew would love em - fill them with lead and they would be true bricks.
No seriously what about some of those early Scalextric cars that never handled very well . theres a challenge !
They had practically bullet proof bodies . suppose getting enough of them would be hard and do they repaint well or were they made from the type of plastic that paint doesn't like sticking to

Be good to get all the issues raised in this years race resolved, although I'm not too fussed on plastic chassis,I guess that will be the way to go,not HRS though.
Just my opinion for what its worth.

Aston Martins/vipers Porsche 997's type GT cars. I would like commercial chassis substitution considered so that you can make something decent out of a Carrera 575 Ferrari and similar. Big range available in these cars.
Also think early Sports Cars would be good - but would be harder cars to drive.
(Can't stand DTM's - I just think they are horrible)
Count Gotham Park Batcave in for a round! I might even have a go at entering this time.

Thats easy fixed.
Original motor mounting position must be retained.
I think we need to decide whether we want this a scratch building proxy or a RTR proxy...

First things first though. I think someone needs to volunteer to be the 2009 Organiser and take on the role of moderating all discussion setting a rough calendar and sorting out the tracks, voltages etc... so as not to repeat some of the interesting-ness from this year.
Do I see any hands shooting up?
oh and in case you missed it,
