tech comitte please note:
Class B
The open wheeler category lists the Ninco Lola Cart as a homologated car able to run in this category. However rule 7.5 and 7.6 say the max front track is 63mm and the max rear track is 65mm. I measured the track last night. F & R tracks are 66.2mm. Need confirmation that this car is OK to run as its the only open wheeler I have.
Class A Classic touring cars/Rally cars.
Im still searching for a car other than a Mustang or Camaro to run in this class. Revell make a BMW 320 that ran in the DTM in 77/78. Is this car OK? Does it fit in with the requirements?

Need a tech decision on whether it can run in this category before I decide to buy it.
cheers

Rick have you looked at the Revell Galaxie? Would make a nice early touring car.

No Phil, thanks for that. Im desperately looking for something to run in our club that isnt a Scaly Mustang or Camaro. The class used to be American Muscle circa the Trans-Am series mid 60s to early 70s but has been broadened out a little and is basically touring cars pre-80. Still not a lot. Revell make a shelby Mustang which is at least different to the boss302 but its front engined and the rules prevent me from turning it into a sidewinder. The car has to be at least competitive with the two scaly cars. I redid the IMSA Greenwood Corvette into a sidewinder and it was competitive with the two scaly cars but the new rules now prevent me from using it. Cant change the motor configuration from the original layout.
Do you have soem details about the Galaxy?

Hi Rick
I didnt even check the rules for width. my Ninco is also out of spec although I have just changed the rear end over to Alloy rims and MJK tyres, I may be able to bring them in slightly.
As far as the BMW320 goes it should be fine. I will check with the rules and get back to you. Is there a time frame you need to know by?

No probs Imkouwl. I own a Camaro so I will run that in the first couple of rounds. Just want to try and find something a little different that is still in the spirit of the classic class. SCX has just released the 79 Fiat 131 Abarth rally car. The dimensions are about the same as a V8 supercar so i think this will be competitive. Not available in Australia yet but is available in some UK shops.
Dont want to buy a new car until the tech commmitte OKs it.
Im glad Im not the only one that is going to be running an illegal Ninco open wheeler

This could well be an oversight when the rules were written. I suggest the tech committee discuss this tomorrow night and change the rule to incorporate these cars or stick with the original ( whatever the logical justification is ) IMO I don't think it is right to rule out a car that comes box stock, that fits into a category, unless it is grossly out of scale: e.g. Track.
We will get a definitive answer tommorrow night before the round gets started.

I agree with Triggy If its stock out of the box then we should be allowed to run them, I will be running my ninco. Getting back to my original concern about the two types of Open wheelers F1 versus INDY obviously the indy has a width advantage but I yielded to the fact that not everyone has one of each so it was voted you can run both in the same championship. I would hope that thoes with F1 dont extend there axles to the maximum width as this will be against the clubs basic foundation of scaled racing, I dont want to see this happening and it is why I original bought up the issue. Maybe in the future we can seperate the classes. Good luck tonight everyone.

Hi Rick
I have had a look at the BMW 320 at the moment because it is pre 1980 it doesn’t belong to Class F and class A doesn’t include DTM. I feel that we may need to amend this, it possible we may allow it to run in both classes as a special dual class car, My thoughts are that it will most likely be class A. I will forward my proposal to the other members of the tech committee.
