Come on Manic. Put your track in for a round.

I can be a tentative host based on my new track being finshed. If you run QLD as the last events then I could be 99% certain it will be all ready to go.

It will have a Ferrador surface and be approx 13 m lane length.

Terry: I could take some pics but all you would see is all the junk that was under the old track. The new one is on its legs and 3 sections bolted together ready for braid,I will see if I can clean it off and take a pic or two.

Steve: Both the Stratton Valley and Old Shelmore Track ( now Gotham Park Batcave ??) should also be available down here depending on race dates with no problems.

If available I think Joe's would be a good inclusion as it is a "HOME STYLE" track and that is the type of track this serie sis intended for, even if it is plastic! :(

That's a cracking looking track - I like it.

If you wanna use mine I'll have it up in a few days (ok weeks) Sidecar - I'm hoping to have a 'working bee' with myself on Sunday so I can have it up before the boys come home on Tuesday.

It may be plastic but at least you don't need cars to weigh 150 grams to do a quick lap time (unlike some Tassie tracks I can think of)

OK, I have lost a bit of the enthusiam this year. Considering that we should have enough SA Tracks, I think I am going to pull my round from the list

What tyres are Ok for grip on a Click Clack Track ? Also how long does braid last when its going over a track join every 150mm or so ? mmmm plastic track :o I dread the thought of my much loved hand built mildly expensive toy getting smashed about by someone with a brand new Xmas pressy figure 8 plastic track - How about a seperate proxy for magnetic racers ?

Sorry I don't want to offend some Auslotters but real slot cars ( 2008 proxy cars ) belong on real slotcar tracks and driven by experienced slot car enthusiasts in my opinion . Im not so keen on building a car up with all the time painting, gluing, decaling, etc and installing a heap of aftermarket goodies bits into the chassis and sending it away so a sugared up 10 - 12 year old can have a great time smashing it up on a Saturday arvo ? Are you ?
Just a thought how does everyone feel about me turning up my track ( if its selected ) to say 15 volts and handing the proxy cars over to my 7 year old daughter to time trial , oh shes really good on 6 volts , hardly ever hits the wall or bounces a car over the fence onto the concrete floor.
Just a few Questions;
Is there any standard a track must meet to be selected for use in the proxy ?
Or a rule in place that requires some mild form of responsibility to the track owner to appreciate that the proxy cars are a little bit more than a hack they lend to a mates kid to play with ?
Say something like barrier walls that stop the car from falling to the floor maybe , or a track layout that is designed for a little more speed than a 16000rpm SCX rally car full of magnets ? From what I looked and raced with in last years proxy races in Adelaide most cars if not all cars had great handling and much quicker motors than the standard Xmas pack slotcar set.
Like I said I don't want to offend , just asking some questions that maybe more people than me have considered asking.

I think that you have saised a very revellant topic BMR.
I fully agree that some sort of standard should be set for venues and personell
I believe that we have been pretty lucky for the previous proxy races wereas they have been very well run and quality tracks drivers have been available I would certainly like to see this standard maintained.

I thikn you are confusing the surface and the people that are goingn to drive them in this.. this thing seems peculiar to me. Is anyone gonna let a 7 yo run them? P-lease! :D

You certainly won't see that happen at any of the 3 NSW tracks that have been nominated so far, and I think you may be selling most of us off a bit too cheap. Vinno, and Joe are among the best, and keenest in Sydney, and know what it is all about.

Still, I think having some minimum criteria for track and drivers is not a bad thing to at least provide some sort of 'standard'.

Guaranteed there will be no noobs driving on their plastic track in the Launceston round or the Hobart round!

All care will be taken to ensure that ALL cars are handled with respect whilst driving and marshalling,

Saying that, I want my car to be thrashed! I don't want you to say "gee whillikers that car just loved to be handled like a woman nice and slow", Whip it bi*ch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car is being prepared as strong as i can make it, this won't be the last Proxy race on this earth, so lets not treat it as such, there will be mistakes, there will be car drop outs, smoked motors, snapped guides, popped out leads, smashed bodies and bent braids. If your car doesn't make it back to you in one piece due to someone really really trying with it than you can ask no more, but if my car comes back in pristine condition and i am last!!!!! WHHHOOOOOO Watch out!

Looking forward to see how it all goes actually!

:o Well put smallnails.

Entrants need to trust that the organiser (me) will make sure that the hosts are up to speed but remember that all those who have offered to be round hosts are well known on this forum and have been playing with toy cars for a loooong time. There should not be a bias towards one track system over another, kind of takes the fun out of building a car that can run on Scalex classic and a variety of wood tracks.

We have enough tracks on offer to run the series and all fit the bill.

And I seriously doubt that any of the hosts would let little kids get near the track when they are elbow deep in big kids wanting in on the action! :D
cheers!

Steve

I don't think there will be any problems with cars down here, we have been running Proxy race since 2000 and so far we have conducted 11 races with no problems.
Track selection is hard to do and keep every one happy. But while the track surface has been varied over the last two years the tracks have been home style tracks up to about 70ft lap lenght.
