I have been tuning a MRRC Toyota that has sat on the shelf since I bought it, sure is nice to use it finally.

The controller info is going to be a big help finishing the set up of the car. I'll tune the car with 15 and 25 ohm parma's instead of Professor Motor.

I will be entering a Revell VW Beetle with a bit of widening and lowering done. Slot It running gear and motor pod (perhaps) MJK 20x10 on the rear, NSR fronts, perhaps a MRRC red can but will have to see if this is a little extreme!!!

It will start life as below but I hope to have it end up alot ....... more extreme.

I'f there is space for a Norwegian on the startgrid I'm in.

Have not decided on car yet. The 928 is out, but I read myself up on "Sports Sedans" and I'm starting to understand the spirit of this series. It seems very close to a very small 1:1 series that is run here in Norway that's called "Special Saloon" exept for that the cars "down under" are based on sedan bodies.

I've looked throug my pile of project cars and found some interessting candidates: Ford Sierra RS500, Opel Calibra, Nissan Skyline KPGC10 and Mitsubishi Galant GTO-MR (if it suits the "sedan" concept). The Calibra would be the "easy route" all the others needs serious fender flaring. Especially the old Skyline and the Galant GTO-MR is a bit appealing because it will be a big challenge to make them wide enough without looking too silly. I'll have to look closer at wheelbases too see wich chassis that might fit before I decide.

Any rought estimates on when we can get entries confirmed, and how much build time we will get?

I'm in. I've narrowed my choice down to a Fly BMW 3.5 CSL, or an SCX Quattro 90. Dave

Well my raw material arrived this morning from eBay - Old Skool Scalextric/Opel/Vauxhall Holden Calibra.

Posted Image

Yes, I am aware that I need to replace the glass - current plan is to attempt this with offcuts of a Coke bottle or similar. Since I've never done this before (nor fabricated wide arches) it will be a bit of learning exercise. Going to go through my cannibalization box and find the most extreme rear wing I can lay my hands on. The bodyshell is 61mm wide at the front arches, 62mm at the rear so there's room for a bit more widening.

If you can get your hands onto a Sunset bodies late model Monaro vacuum shell the windows may be a very close fit to the calibra ? Could be cheaper than buying the Coke ?

Probably not cheaper than a bottle of Coke once you factor in the postage! I can walk to the supermarket in 4 minutes :)

I don't mind experimenting with the Coke bottle technique - part of the reason for taking on this project is that it allows me to try out two techniques (the glass replacement and building up wide arches) that I haven't tried before.

I used a Calibra a few years ago for a Sports Sedan and made the flares wider by simply glueing thick circular pieces of styrene onto the existing flares and blending them into the body. Very little extra weight that way.

My entry will be a HQ Monaro (Premier).....still a way to go yet.

Sorry the photo is so blurry, I think my digital camera is on it's last legs. It has grown a chin spoiler this morning and will have flared guards soon, as well as a big wing for the back. The body was originally a NKOK Chevelle but has now been rounded off and puttied up to reveal the inner Monaro :D :)

This will be the Team Sidecar entry. Son of Sidecar and I have decided to work together on one entry after last years humiliation. Daughter of Sidecar wants in on the act as well and Bride of Sidecar see's this as an opportunity for some family bonding (read: you entertain the kids!!)

Now where did I put that Slot.it Kenwood 956 that will be donating it's chassis........
