Hi All.

I've opened this thread and moved the two posts above so we can use this thread to provide a Q & A platform for your questions about eligibility for the Down Under Proxy Race Sports Sedan Series 2008.

Isn't there some rule somewhere about Canadian cars being too ugly to enter? ;)

Van, isn't that thing going to be too long to fit the length rule - max of 150mm? Pity as that Opel is exactly what Sports Swedans is all about.

Cheers

Paul

The Opel is 170mm long but you could sacrafice some rear wing and front spoiler to get down to 150 ? mmmmm chop chop ?

Now that's how regs should be sorted, lots of common sense. Makes my entry all that much easier to slip through scrutineering. ;) 174.9 mm long Mini with huge front air dam to cover the extended chassis with guide as far forward as possible.

Is this a classic case of "stretching things too far"?

Sorry, I know it's a bad pun.

Cheers

well done Steve I measured my camaro with the front spoiler and it just came in the 150 rule so going to 175 is a good move i50 would have eliminated to many cars

Good idea to allow the longer cars ...Imugford will now be looking at Plymouth superbirds  Mopar man through to the bone. 70mm wide may be a bit too much though on some of the tracks with 80mm lane spacing , those rear wings will be catching each other a lot with only 10mm between cars.

Most clubs only allow 65mm OR 2.5"

What's the problem with an extra 5mm? Have a look on a ruler to see just how little 5 mm is. With a large number of track owners wanting to run the Proxy there may be an opportunity to rule out some tracks that have too close lane spacing.

How critical is racing wide saloon bodied cars? I know with open wheelers it's a problem but wouldn't the saloon bodies just push each other? There may be problems overtaking a wide car through a corner when you are on the outside lane but that's why God invented left and right corners.

Racing will be a fairly crazy affair, with many broken cars within first few races if they are all 80mm wide cars running on sports scaley track!!!

Most of the mass produced cars from the various makers of our loved toys are at or under 65 mm wide and they often loose the rear wings even with two experienced drivers at the controls. If 70mm is allowed - then its the rule , but that probably should have been something to vote on by all the competitors when we were voting for the car type that we going to run .
So far it seems the bodies can be up to 175mm long x 70mm wide - am I correct there ?
I will go along with the majority rule on width and length but if you rule out some tracks with small lane spacing you may risk loosing a few players ? Suppose its up to them with narrow lanes there.
Saying that Im all for the proxy tracks having 100mm lane spacing as a minimum for 70mm cars.

The original talks were about using the Celica and Capri as the base for width! I assumed that the Celica was the widest at 65mm.

I think the SCX Audi 90 is the widest at 66.3 mm wide. By the time mine is slightly flared it will come in at just under 70 mm. That's only an extra 2 mm per side.

Isn't it a bit late to start bitching about the regs you all had your chance to have your say before they were formulated so just get on with it I have a camaro with only moderate flairs on it and it comes in right on the 70mm I can't see a problem wiyh this we raced open wheelers on a scalex track for years under the 70mm rule and never had any problem with it, you just have to adjust your biff and barge mentality

4.2.5 Cars to be received by the organiser before the advertised date

?????????????????????

<_< Not much point putting in dates when we haven't decided the schedule of rounds. There will be an announcement opening for entries with details of rounds, dates and hosts. Look for this next month.
OK ..... but what sort of time frame are we looking at ......... January,February,March ...... September ?.......

My 70mm Audi, still lots to do,but adding flares and big wings and all is surely in the spirit of the sports sedan, just taking a standard body, for me,is not in the spirit of the category.

Surely the more radical and outrageous the better, all within 70mm of course!

"Rubbin' and a bit of biff and barge is not entirely unexpected in the sport sedan world,no gentleman racers here thank you.
