Hi All.

Now is time to sort out the round hosts for DUPR 2008. We will have a maximum of 10 rounds run between Late March 2008 and June-ish. I think the format so far has been good and avoids dragging the series out to much.

This years Sports Sedans are going to be the widest we have run yet so lane width will be an issue to consider when volunteering a track and will figure in the rationale for choosing the host rounds where we have more tracks that rounds of the series.

2007 has been a bumper year for the building/acquiring of routed tracks so I'm hoping some new tracks will figure in the mix, as well as those that have hosted rounds in the past.

Hopefully there will be enough interest to see the cars sent to at least 5 states. :aussie:

Race Hosts will be responsible for:
  • arranging to collect the cars
  • performing basic servicing on all cars (clean braids, etc..)
  • running qualifying and racing
  • enlisting/press-ganging enough helpers to drive and marshall on race night,
  • recording all results in the provided format
  • packing the cars and forwarding them to the next Race Host
The best bit is you get to play with a whole bunch of really interesting cars :mosh:

Also, all costs involved in mailing the cars between hosts is covered by the entry fees so Race Hosts wont be out of pocket at all.

Members interested in nominating their track to host a round of DUPR 2008 can post in this thread.

In your post, could you please provide a description of your track, including the following details:
  • Location (eg. Melbourne Eastern Suburbs)
  • Track name
  • Number of lanes
  • Lane length
  • Lane width
  • Type of track (eg. routed/coppertape, routed/magnabraid, Scalex Sport, etc..)
  • Surface type (eg. ferrador, gloss, etc..)
  • Power source and voltage
  • Timing system
  • House controllers

Photos, videos and links to more detail about your tracks would be good to see too.

I reckon we've got a little while to organise this bit but, with the Chrissy break almost upon us, the earlier we can lock in the host rounds the better. We should have this finalised no later than the end of January 2008.

In the event we have more offers to host than there are rounds, the Organiser and the Tech panel (see regs) will decide.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Beachside Model Raceway - Southern area of Adelaide
26.75 metres around the shortest lane 27.05 around the longest lane (4 lanes)
40 amp power supply - Adjustable power level can be set from 2 volts to 17 volts
Races usually run at 12 volts - 6 volts for the interstate cars :aussie:
4 lanes MDF timber routed track - Copper braid
100mm lane spacing minimum
150mm spacing on the sweeper at the end of the main straight
Plenty of run off area to keep deslotted cars out of harms way until the marshal does his job.
Dead strip timing to SRM 2.20 program or Slot V30 program
Cabots clear coat over Solver grey
7 ohm , 15ohm , 25ohm or electronic controllers available with variable brake pots
** could be a good idea to suggest the best controller to use with your car **
Its a fast open layout that suits the faster cars a well set up Scalextric Camaro has run 7.6 with a stock Scalextric Mabuchi motor , an NSR Mosler out of the Box has run a 7.2 and a Womp on Sponge tyres with a Plafit Fox II motor has run a 6.8.
From the start line
The main straight is 7.5 inside lane - 8.2 metres outside lane then a long 4.6m (outside lane) right turn slide / drift through a wide sweeper (the lane spacing splays out into 150mm so over taking can be done easily while all the cars are sliding) , then as it exits onto the back straight the track sweeps back left into a 1.8m "s" reversing the slide / drift , the cars changing from a right hand drift into a left hand drift then it needs to straighten up , get some grip and shoot hard for about 4.5 metres and brake hard into a 180 corner , a short 1.2m straight into a right / left slide under brakes around another 180 corner then 2m straight and through a 30 degree kink under the bridge. Then another slide turning left 3.5m (outside lane ) continuing the slide under brakes into a tightening left corner and over the bridge , right turn with a slight off camber feel as it enters the main straight and over the finish line.
The motor spends a lot of time in its higher rpm limit using the usual 3:1 ratio 9:27 gearing (inline) or 3.8:1 10:38 sidewinder type gearing . The track has a few sweeping corners that require the car to stay in a constant slide and remain stable .
The braid sits 1/2mm below the track surface.

From the staggered start lines around the track and back to the staggered lines again all lanes cover an equal length in distance the heavier white line is the finish line and dead strip.

Steve: We have 3 tracks available here in Hobart. We are happy to run up to 3 rounds here IF required.
My Old track Shelmore Park is being relocated to the Batcave ( Boss 302 ) this week, Stratton Valley and the new Shelmore track will be running early January.
HMCC Tracks
Details are in the above link. The New Shelmore will be finished in Ferrodore with Cabots clear over the top. Power will be the same as the other HMCC tracks.

New Shelmore. Lap lenght about 65' track is 4800 x 2800 build on 4 frames and using tinned braid as the conductors.

& again, we would be happy to host as many rounds as you like in the southern side of Adelaide. As stated above from BMR, we have BMR, The Valley (a venue this year) & my track, 6 pines (on last years & this years schedule).

For 6 Pines, the stats are as follows:

* Location (eg. Melbourne Eastern Suburbs) - Adelaide, Souther Suburbs
* Track name - 6 Pines
* Number of lanes - 4
* Lane length - 16.8M
* Lane width - 100mm between centers. 100mm gutters on straights, 150mm gutters on outside of all corners
* Type of track (eg. routed/coppertape, routed/magnabraid, Scalex Sport, etc..) - Routed/Copper Braide
* Surface type (eg. ferrador, gloss, etc..) - Ferrordor, Enoch Grey
* Power source and voltage - Regulated Power supply, 9-16 volts, 30amps. Set to 12 volts for all 1/32nd racing
* Timing system - SRM, triggered by Photo Sensors
* House controllers - Dependant on the drivers on the night. Typically 25 or 15 ohm Parma, with the occasional Electronic.

* Location Emu Heights

* Track name Emu Park

* Number of lanes 3 Lanes

* Lane length 11.5 metres all lanes

* Lane width Varies but plenty of room for anything 1/32. 75mm minimum to 90mm.

* Type of track Routed MDF very undulating copper braid.

* Surface type Flat paint

* Power source and voltage 10 volts for faster engines as will be used in proxy

* Timing system PC but am currently setting up new timing

* House controllers All our racers bring their own so they are comfortable with what they are driving.

I will take some new pics of the track after Christmas but you can get an idea of how it looks here. It has some more detail since these pictures.

It has too much stuff around it to get a clean pic as Jacob's drummers gear is taking up space at present.

Hammer Ring

4 lane

100 mm spacing

routed coppertape

lo sheen,

13.8v with track mate for scoring

parma economys!

Bout an 6-8 sec lap

there are about 8-9 blokes capable with helping! So marshals shoulnd't be a problem this year! This track at this voltage is bit of a handful with poorly set up cars!!!

I think 2 tracks should be selected in each state to start with and then see how many we get, if not all states can run an event then some states can get a third round. Maybe extend the number of races to 12 IF there are plenty of tracks.

Agreed with Phil. Start with 2 per state (seriously, if there is another SA member who wants a round, I will stand down) & work from there. We had 3 in SA last year, but that was due to withdrawals. I also think that 12 would be the absolute maximum

Yep. That's sensible. It would be preferable to have 2 rounds in 5 states if possible.

The response so far has been very good and as more volunteers come on board we will have the difficult job of selecting tracks to host the rounds.

Selecting the host tracks will give us the opportunity to mix things up; different surfaces, short tech tracks, fast sweeping tracks, etc...
cheers!

The SSME track could host a round, if we want to see how fast they can go on a 35.1m banked 6 laner.

Posted Image

Luddenham - West, south/west of Sydney;
Routed timber;
Copper braid;
Smooth grey paving paint;
Dead strip; (yes Phil 1960's stuff) :)
Controllers - same as Vinno's, drivers will have their own;
35A, variable PS.

The track will be converted to right braid positive over the Christmas break.

See more here

Okay, i don't have a track................but................after Slider hosted a leg last year, this year I will support ---

Brad B) , aka Smallnails :P , HammerRing ;) a leg round his track this year with the happy little LOTS Race club band :band: of merry slot racers.

Hope this didn't look toooo knobish, but we could do a leg at Smallnails before the cars go to Hobart, Hobart :lol: , not Hobart. Sorry, Hobarts :) alright if you live there..............and they have a great slot group down there (one day we may have an intrastate challenge!!!!). Nearly moved to Hobart a few years back, but that's another story for another time............................

Only if you can scrub off those white and red streak marks :lol: Are you going to put up the other details - Track length , lane spacing , power supply , lap counting system etc ?
The track looks good , job well done.

Gotham Park Batcave. Boss302 now has the old Shelmore track and will most likely host the third Tassie round.
