The race will be Aussie V8s , I think everyone has a Ford or Holden V8 to run.
If you don't have an Aussie V8 then a Scalextric NASCAR or Scalextric DTM can be run in the event as a replacement but ONLY if you cant run a Scalextric Aussie V8 ( borrow a car if you can ) Scalextric cars only so the motors are matched as close as Scalextric manufacturing tolerances will allow.

100 - 120 minute total race time starting as early as possible.

If we race as individual racers

The race will be 8 minute heats on each lane for each driver , there will be pit stops in the race , The pit stop time will be determined by a preset number of seconds for each driver. This pre set time is worked out by rolling the dice 6 times before the race night begins , the total of all 6 rolls is your pit stop time.
e.g. 1,1,3,2,5,6 = 18 seconds. There will be a time keeper that will start the clock on your pit stop when your car comes to a complete halt in the pit stop area (between the chalk lines that will be on the track) If you go beyond the chalk lines then you must lap around the track again to come back and try again to stop within the chalk line pit area . When your recorded preset pit time has elapsed the timekeeper will say GO ! Only one pitstop for the entire race - to be done on blue lane only . Anytime after the first minute of racing when you are on BLUE lane.
If you forget to pit stop your recorded pitstop time plus a 30 second penalty will be add onto your total racetime at the end of the night.

If we race as teams

If we run as teams then pitstop time is driver change time , the team can use the same car for the whole night or drivers can use there own cars. If we run as teams then the team can pit at anytime on BLUE lane and there pit time will be determined by the Timekeeper . The timekeeper will roll the dice and keeps on rolling until a 6 comes up , when the timekeeper rolls the six he will say GO ! Better change those cars and controllers quickly huh you may get a 6 on the first roll ! Each team will pit twice so every driver on every team drives all four lanes .

Team selection

For team selection we can have two boxes ( Red box and Blue box ) pick your drivers from the box that matches your car brand. If we have an odd number of racers turn up on the night then one person can run the entire race as a single runner . If we have a driver without a Scalextric V8 but he intends to race a Scalextric NASCAR or Scalextric DTM instead then he will be put on the Red or Blue team - which ever team colour needs a car to even things out between the sides. e.g. If there are 10 Ford team cars but only 9 Holden team cars then the NASCAR / DTM becomes a Holden on paper for the nights race. Just so we have teams that are all one brand of car.

If you can for see any problems with this race format please reply with a better option

Thanks. See ya Monday night - be early if you can or call me so we can sort something out as we enter the racers names into the computer

Nice photo ....pity we were short on a few members for the race it would have been good to have done it as a teams event , Still it was a great night lots of laughs . I glanced at the results and was surprised to see I managed 3rd I though I had a bad run last night and expected to be way down the results list , my chassis is cracked around the flag area - explains the erratic handling a bit huh . I didnt look to see which team colour had the most cars in the top order of the results - Red or Blue ? I know there were more Blue entries.

Thats because Holdens BLOW CHUNKS (& anything driven by a Kelly is a cheater anyway :( )

The results are as follows (these results are corrected, to include the missed laps):

1 Jordan / Scalextric V8 200 4 ( 07.616)
2 Wayne / Scalextric V8 193 4 ( 07.662)
3 Steve / Scalextric V8 190 4 ( 07.870)+2
4 Blake / Scalextric V8 188 4 ( 07.882)
5 Matt / Scalextric V8 187 4 ( 07.909)
6 Kane / Scalextric V8 182 4 ( 08.020)
7 Dave / Scalextric V8 179 4 ( 08.161)+1
8 Bob / Scalextric V8 174 4 ( 08.168)
9 Ashley / Scalextric V8 169 4 ( 07.792)-6
10 Kym / Scalextric V8 172 4 ( 08.187)
11 Damo / Scalextric V8 164 4 ( 07.362)+5
12 Ken / Scalextric V8 156 4 ( 09.620)
13 Chris / Scalextric V8 143 4 ( 09.257)
14 Shannon / Scalextric V8 140 4 ( 09.462)

My little indiscretion only dropped me 1 place in the final results

My little indiscretion only dropped me 1 place in the final results ???

Did I miss something ? I was probably busy explaining to my next door neighbour that we are not big kids - although a few in the club still drool from the corners of their mouths and need to be reminded its not polite to wipe snot on their sleeves.

How did you end up with -6 laps :(

How did you end up with -6 laps

It was due to him leaving his pit stop to the last 25 seconds when he had to make a 20 second stop, then not stopping inside the pit area and having to do another lap to get it right
Normal people worry me

OH yes I do remember that bit now - I didnt know it cost 6 laps though heeheehee, Hoffy better drill his pit crew huh , that splash n dash on the last lap then going too deep in the pit area and no time left in the race to do another lap hehehe couldn't plan it that way if ya tried it 100 times over , he came up about a metre short of the pits at the end of the race didn't he ?

Im not sure what hoffys strategy was but i think it may have something to do with how the program works out your last partial lap  I could be wrong though. come on Hoffy fess up?

You might be onto something there Imkouwl  .
We'll fix that little loophole then. Pit windows in the middle section of the race next season.

No, no strategy. I just wanted to see how many laps I could get up before pitting. Also, if I pitted & there were less then 4 seconds (I estimate) before the end of the race, it doesn't really matter how quickly you get out of the lane.

But, I screwed it up, so it doesn't really matter

Do we need to think about having someone over Hoffy's shoulder went he's at the computer ? ;)
