Ok I meesed up and applied some (belt grip) to my track surface , its the stuff in a spray can to stop the fan belt from slipping on my 1:1 car. I have used it before and it was great but this time I went a little overboard and now the grip is like a goo track. Not so good for the rtr cars great for the womps. I thought to use SHELLITE to clean the surface but I also thought we have some paint experts (there employment) on the Auslot forum that may be able to tell me if the shellite will effect the surface, The surface is Calbots clear coat (water base) over Solver oil base paint.
Any help / advice all goes into the pot of knowledge for us all huh.

The shellite will be O/K provided you wipe it off,do not allow it to lay on the track. We have used it for years even when our track was water based.

Cheers Phil , I was going to pm you about this because I thought I had read something before that you may have posted on the same subject. I thought the shellite would be ok because it flash evaporates fairly quickly. I figured its much cheaper to post something here on Auslot than find out the hard way that the water base paint would react badly. I will still do a spot test on a part of the track that is off line for the cars just to be absolutely sure .
I have actually found the belt grip great in the past in a small light mist spray on areas that were a bit too slippery but its unforgiving if there is too much layed down . The reason for doing it was the surface grip was only good for the MJK tyres , the other brands were having trouble keeping up. The old track surface was good for all tyres with no real advantage to any one brand , which to me gives someone with out of the box tyres a fair chance in a race.
Anyways I will post the results of the clean up and how it goes for all to see and it may help someone in the future with the same delema.

The Shellite worked a treat , I kept changing the lint free rags over and went around the track a few times and it all cleaned off - no visible paint damage but WOW did I feel light headed . I had to keep the shed door closed because of the rain outside . Those fumes can sure make you forget ya worries - la de da de da I feel happy now :arggg:
