Hi Guys
We will be running another scratch built night for Monaro Cup cars, Classic Muscle cars and Womps this Friday night at Beachside Model Raceway.
this series is for metal chassis cars with vac-form bodies.
start time is 7.30 (correct me if I'm wrong Steve).
We are going to start a pointscore system from this race on, till the end of the year with a small trophy awarded to the winner of each class so there is something to aim for.
points will we awarded as per the scoring system used in this years Down Under Proxy.
to Phil K
if you read this hope you don't mind us nicking your points system.
See you Friday
We didn't start a point score system tonight , we had some racing and a lot of fun but due to The flu , Friday night Footy and other parent/kids commitments we thought to wait until we had everyone together on the next Scratchy night. We did however fix a few glitches - we all assumed the computer timing or dead strip was not working correctly but as it turned out we were all running under the programs minimum lap time that had been set at 6.4 seconds. The minimum has been reset to 5.5 seconds . (Thanks hoffy) We had a new racer come along and intro himself he raced way back in the 70s and hes keen to get back into the slotcar scene , Welcome Chris . He beats Imugford as far as the longest distance travelled to get to a slotcar night by around 50kms.
Did some experimenting with the track grip and applied some belt grip (spray on used for fan belts) fantastic for wompy cars but way too grippy for the normal 1/32 rtr cars , the track will receive a wipe down and clean before Monday night. Bring back a little slide action.
Also tried the track in reverse , managed a best lap of 7.9 second with a Caltex V8 supercar but very different and difficult to get used to . Not as flowing to race on as in the normal direction but acceptable if we all want to race in the reverse direction for a change of track one night.
The CV Monaros went very well on the grippy surface with some very fast lap times ( sorry no photo ) got caught up chatting and turned off the computer before taking a photo. Oops !
To the SCSC members that were at Thursday nights meeting - we talked about having a secondary method to secure the body screws from accidentially working loose and falling out, using tape or plasticine in the holes to stop the screw from dropping out onto the track. I fell victim to a screw in the track with my Indy car - broken flag guide post was the result , my fault , my screw !
Can anyone help me with a good excuse to offer to the wife ? - I need a new open wheel car for Monday.
