mattcrackers
As the title says I'm after some information on whay body/bodies this COX chassis would have been used on. It was picked up by a mate under a Tamiya McLaren Elva which has been restored and an original Tamiya brass chassis put back under it as seen elsewhere here on the forum. Not sure about the motor size etc but any information would be appreciated. cheers Matt
munter
Chaparral 2c, Ford GT 40, Lotus 40, Ferrari Dino, Cheetah is all I can recall, could have been others. 1/24 Cox mag alloy chassis, 36d Motor. Looks like a nice example Quote John Warren Slotcars are my preferred reality
munter
Can you show a better picture of the mag wheels? Quote John Warren Slotcars are my preferred reality
slotbaker
Looks like Chaparral wheels on the front, with GT40/Lotus/Dino Ferrari 3 ear knock offs. Chaparral wheels should have hexagon acorn style lock nuts. The Cheetah also uses the hexagon acorn style lock nuts. The motor is Mabuchi FT36D, Cox code TT-X250. Here is a link to a good forum topic with interesting pictorial info on 60's style motors. It covers many variants of most 'can' style motors used in the early days. mattcrackers
Here's a couple more pictures. Actually it is in very nice shape John, great condition for it's age and runs very well. Cheers also for the information Steve. Matt
munter
Those wheels say, "Chaparral" to me. Quote John Warren Slotcars are my preferred reality
kalbfellp
Certainly are Chappy but wrong nuts. Should not be too hard to find a set of Acorn nuts. Quote Phil https://www.hobartminiaturecarclub.com/ Email
slotbaker
The fronts look like 1/8" threaded axle/wheels. The Cox acorn nuts are 2-56 UNC, so you would have to swap the axle and wheels, or drill/ream the wheels to plain 1/8" hole. Cox free wheeling axles are readily available. A bit hard to tell what the rear axle is, but looks like it might be 2-56 on the tapered axle. If so, the Cox acorn nuts would fit. Quote Steve K. Tangmere
It looks to be in "good shape" because it's been painted. Normally when the magnesium chassis is exposed to air you get corrosion. You can clean it off and seal it either with paint as was done here or a clear lacquer if you like the look of the bare magnesium. Quote Rules are for the obedience of fools and guidance of wise men.
