Official Rules 2017 v.1.04

October 2 2016

Changes to the previous rules are marked in red

The International Proxy Series is for any GT or Sports road racer (two seats, full fenders, open or closed cockpit, has to have been entered at least once) from 1965 or earlier in 2 classes according to the position (in the slot car) of the motor:

-Rear engined

-Front engined. In order to be eligible for this class cars have to be built according to the relevant rules otherwise they will be automatically classified as rear engined

Organization:

The International Proxy Series (IPS) field will be restricted to 32 entrants. The entry fee is US$30 per car and individuals and manufacturers are encouraged to prepare and submit cars. Each entrant may enter up to 2 cars ,second car fee US$ 20. The IPS is organized by Alexis Gaitanis (alexis in greece).

Cars are to be posted to:

Alexis Gaitanis

33 Bakoyanni str

Vrilisia 15235

Greece

and must arrive to the race central before tech ,on March 20 2017.The first 2 local rounds will be held end of March -begining of April 2017,there will be no penalty for late arrivals but they might miss one or both rounds.

All cars will be photographed and will pass through technical inspection as they arrive until March 20. If a car is found to be out of compliance with rules the car will at the organizer’s discretion have adjustments or modifications made in collaboration with the car owner to bring the car in compliance of IPS rules, or the car will be returned to the owner (time permitting) to be brought within compliance of IPS rules. No changes to cars beyond maintenance and necessary repair will be made after passing through technical inspection.

Finishing order for each round of the proxy race, and the entire series, will be determined by distance covered, based on laps within a set amount of time. A minimum of 3 minutes racing time per car per lane is required at each track. Otherwise, each race will be conducted according to procedures chosen by the individual track host. Each car is to be raced in a fair and equal manner and subject to the same track conditions. Lane and driver rotations to be determined by track host. Track voltage, preferably 12 volts, determined by race host, but should be equal for all cars.

There will be three classifications

-Distance:Top finisher of each race will get a score of 100 and subsequent finishers will get a score equal to the percentage of the distance of top finisher covered.Example:if top finisher completes 50 laps and scores 100 and second completes 49 laps he scores 98(49=98% of 100)

-Concours:only cars with custom paint/liveries are eligible, scoring is 18-14-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 points. As there might be more than one judge in each race each car will receive the average score.Example if a car gets from 3 judges 18 10 and 5 the score for that race will be 11(18+10+5=33/3=11)

-Scratchbuilt chassis:any allowed material but cars with laser cut chassis are not eligible.Scoring is 18-14-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 points accoridng to finishing order in each race

In case ot ties number of wins will be taken into account, then number of seconds and so on

A running inspection of cars is to be made before and after each race. Cars may be cleaned, lubricated and tires sanded. Minor repairs such as braid , wire or screw replacement, gear adjustment or wheel reattachment to take place prior to the car being raced and will not be penalized. If car breaks during a race the track owner or driver may repair that car during its race heat time and return it to the track losing only the time needed for repair. A broken car, if running, may complete its race heats at the track owner’s discretion. Major repairs which take longer than race time, such as chassis fix, guide fix, gear or motor replacement will be completed at the track. If the car’s owner wishes, the damaged car will be sent home for repair between races at the car owner’s expense. Car is to be forwarded to the next event also at the owner’s expense.

And any other of similar dimensions.

Guidelines

Max depth measured under braids: 5,8 mm

As i hate penalties ,the following rules infringements have surfaced in previous years, please avoid them:

-mechanical parts show under cockpit

-wrong tires

-width over 57 mm

This race series is to be conducted in a friendly manner. Any entrants, hosts, race organizers or spouses of said participants found guilty of impeding the delivery of this proxy will be judged by their peers. Any skulduggery, pirating, intimidation or bribery is highly recommended. I have a weakness for beer.

Have a great proxy.

Hi Alexis.

Please put my Ferrari 250 GTO in again. Number 72. Rear engined. Presume Paul Gauge urethane tyres are OK.

Might even dust off cobwebs and give car a repaint as green was heavily criticised in 2015.

Just to clarify Alexis the rear tyres are our choice of rubber/urethane NOT silicone or foam type and MUST BE 7MM tyre width only and is there anything about the overall dia ?.

Rear tires must be rubber or urethane,no silicone or foam, maximum width wall to wall 7mm.

Overall dia is free but ground clearance should be considered

Also

"rear wheels cannot have a smaller diameter than the front wheels. The visible portion of the front and rear wheels must be within 1mm of each other in diameter. Front tires must have an outside diameter within 2mm of the rear tires "

FF-050 has a fraction more revs (~500 more), but the FC-130 has WAY more torque, which equals better acceleration / brakes.

FF's will rarely out perform the FC's, and only seem to do so on slippery tracks.
