Stubbo
Here are the final tables for round 3. I missed the colouring on the raid cars but I am sure you can work out the stage placings. On Saturday we ran stage 1 of the WRC and Historics and both stages of the Raid class. On Sunday we ran stage 2 of the WRC and Historics. I'll get a photo report up over the next few days. In the meantime a couple of notes. Shadow your RS200 seems to have some sort of motor issue. It is like it has a big flat spot, more so at slower speeds and it just did not handle the hairpins all that well. The raid cars were also not that well suited here. More about that later. Some cars handled well but were a bit down on power whilst others could be quick but would struggle with the really tight curves. Stu's Subaru is a rocket ship and set a new lap record of 13.161. My car was withdrawn due to a mechanical failure. Quote Alan Stubbings
shadow_rusty
Knew I shouldn't have used that motor... Oh well, it is what it is... Thanks for the first in RAID for me... And I think my RS may just allow the mini out of last place by the end... Congrats to all the podiumites. Massive thanks to the drivers / marshalls.... curef99
it looks like both my car had amazing speed on your track, second best for the xara and best time lap for the alpine but only the alpine could stay on track. Do you remember what went wrong with the xara? 13.6 second best time but only 6th overall. if i am not wrong, the top 3 in historic are within 6 points...52-48-46 interesting but still too early to see it through the rest of the proxy. charlesx
Thanks Stubbo for a well run round and the quick/clear results. Look forward to photos. Pity about your car but you more than made up for it with your organisational/race skills. Special congrats to Shadow_Rusty for win with truck. That more than made up for RS200 disappointment I expect. Looking forward to next round. Have a great Christmas and New Year everybody. Stubbo
As round 3 of the 2014 Ozrally was at a totally new venue we thought we would let the cars have a bit of a practice run so they could be familiar with the track. It was pretty cold down on the coast and we even had the odd penguin found its way on to the track. Meanwhile Charles’ Subaru couldn’t quite get the bends right. The raid vehicles were finding the going really tough particularly Gazza’s Bowler which seemed to spend more time on its side or roof than its wheels. Phil’s grandkids showed that Tasmanian’s just can’t drive very well at this track. They better improve by March. Meanwhile Charles’ Subaru couldn’t figure out the right way to get down the hill. We were concerned about the raid vehicles fitting under the bridge but Gazza’s Bowler proved it could be done. Mark’s mini was also struggling in practice. Here it is being passed by Gazza’s Bowler! My car was disgusting and was consigned to its rightful resting place. Meanwhile Charles’ Subaru ……………. The racing was generally pretty good. Here are some of the car cars going through the town section. Coming off the gravel. Mark’s mini took a bit of a breather and watched a few cars go by. Into the hairpin Ember's car going up the hill. Out of the tunnel Probably the most unusual thing was when Fabien’s Citroen saw the Michelin Man and got very excited. I think every time the car went past him it may have been dragging it’s drive shaft. When we were tallying up all the scores we noticed Mark’s mini was missing. We thought we found it but this was a false alarm. After an exhaustive search the missing car was finally found hiding in the trees. The class winners parade through the town And then it was all over. We did manage to get a photo of each car at some point on the track. So if yours isn’t shown here and you want to see it………… Hopefully Ozrally will visit the Southern Loop again next year. shadow_rusty
That was totally awesome... Loved it... And yes, the performance of the Raid truck is more than making up for the disappointment of the crappy fly motor... curef99
well, i am not convince with the storyline. The picture in front of the hotel, yes, the pinguin, not sure, but for sure, to get a french out of the road, you need a sexy lady and not a Michelin man . Please, remove this picture, it is not acceptable!!!!!
