The RX-41 is a 15.000 RPM motor (at 12 volt) and perform similar to a Ninco NC-1 motor so upgrading to a Slot.it Boxer/2 is an extreme upgrade (if you gear it to take advantage of the torque).
For an easy upgrade choose a faster/stronger SCX motor:
RX-41B = 18.000 rpm and competitive with standard Scalextric/Fly S-can motors.
Most of the "Pro" range motors are usually around 20.000 rpm and quite a bit stronger than the "B" motors and usually more than fast enough when geared right.
The newest "PRO motor" is the RX-4H and it's a beast revving 27.000 rpm.
Or you could get a Slot.it "motor mount for RX" (SP08) and use Slot.it S-can motors or any other can-drive S-cans. Converting a standard SCX chassis to boxer motors will require a custom built motor mount.
But, if you just want to get a bit more speed and acceleration try a 10 teeth pinion first. the low revving SCX motors (especially RX-41) are geared too short to take advantage of the mid rpm power on anything other than a short twisty tracks. Slotcar motors produce maximum power at half of the max rpm so the slow reeving motors often work at too high rpm when equipped with the stock 9/27 gears.

356,
Thanks for taking the time to reply - obviously looking for something that is going to be competitive on the Rally Proxy. I have a 10 tooth on it's way so I'll give that a whirl. It looks like if the RX41 is not sufficient then the easiest option is to swap it for another SCX motor.
Cheers
Mark

Mark, is it for the Proxy rally? If so, do what Tore suggested and put a 10 tooth pinion on it. Makes a world of difference!

I would look at the SCX 42E or have a look at what Stig built for last years rally if that is what you are building for. You do not need lots of speed, but good balance of power and torque.

The RX-42E is pretty much the same motor as the 20000 rpm Pro-speed motor.
I used the Pro-speed motor in the Lancia 037 last season and my impression is that it overpowered the car on many of the tracks. Either that or it was geared for too much speed. The Lancia 037 I entered was low and wide, much wider than any of the cars allowed this season, and it weighted 100 gram.
For this season I will "down-power" to a 18000 rpm RX-41B (or RX-42B for podded cars) or a RX-41 (depending on car weight) if I decide to build a SCX car. In the SCX proxy a RX42B powered car won the series, beating several Pro-speed powered cars. I guess there is some truth to the old saying "power is nothing without control"
May I ask which car you are considering to enter?

I forgot to ask which livery you finished up with Miveson.

You're only allowed to look every 30 mins Miveson. Otherwise you'll wear out the door hinge.
