Hello all
I have been doing a bit of cataloging of my cars - making notes on motor, gearing etc.

I have a few cars that are very poor on the brakes - I read on another forum a comment about - getting rid of the no brake motor

I was wondering what is the relationship between motor and brakes? ie my Carrera GTO and Cuda and my MRRC Ford and Revell Lola are all poor on the brakes... would a motor swap or gear swap give them more brakes?

cheers
DM

I don't know about the Carrera's BUT the MRRC Ford may have a 10t pinion so changing that to a 9 will help. I think the guys down here are running 11/34 on the Lola.

Usually a motor with a strong magnetic grab on the armature(how do you tell?) will give good brakes.
I assumed motors with a strong torque figure would also have good brakes....that was until I discovered the Scaleauto long can in red.
I cant remember the revs but the torque was quoted at 350gcm ....it accellerated the car really well but there was nothing there when it was time to slow down.

As Phil says gearing can influence brakes too but the motor characteristics are a big factor.
