Sound Round 8 has been won and run, after seeing the cars run throughout the morning I must admit I expected FCC to dominate especially after his car set a new outright lap record! If it wasn't for traffic and an off in the last heat he would have won outright. There are some really strong cars in the field this year so you will see that the field is quite close.

1.slittlehales: 163.03
2.FCC: 162.23
3.Manimal: 154.89
4.Lenny Broke: 153.86
5.Suttle: 153.77
6.Gzminiz: 152.65
7.Tazracer: 151.89
8.Antony: 150.37
9.Dan S: 149.74
10.Davnic 74: 148.79
11.Mark D: 148.48
12.Newsom: 144.38
13. Obsidith: 143.65
14. Hoffy: 140.75
15. Sportsracer: 139.11
16. PMC356: 137.01
17. Ronan: 133.81
18. XR8: 117.6

Thanks you to Tobias, Shane & Brett for the driving!

given your car was built for that track Steve, there are no surprises your car was up the pointy end.

Seems fcc's car's weakness is non existant, damn it!!!

well done to the podium getters, thanks for the round steve, nice result.although my car has slipped down a couple of spots,I was hoping to have shaken loose Lennys' car,but to no avail,I've got some work to do to get ahead of that mid pack crowd.

Manimmal, your car was quite fast, though it seems that it has developed something out of round, perhaps a bent axle? Terry, your car was a really well balanced package.

Most of the field could do with a refresh and some are in a bad way. The main comment that I have is that the majority of the field was seriously low on grip, and a few of the cars were majorly over powered for my track.

To give you an idea of how fast FCC's car was compared to the rest of the field, my car managed a 4.008, and the median was probably 4.3. FCC's new lap record was a 3.789......
Well done FCC, its a great car and absolutely deserves to win the 2010 Proxy.

As a random musing, I was playing around on the track this evening, and I decided to run a car that I brought a while ago and haven't got around to taking out of the box yet (a Sideways Ganassi Riley), and after taking it out of the box, lubricating, gluing the motor in fitting my choice of tyres and general setup (about 5 minutes of work) I soon had it lapping in the 4.1's. To me this not only highlights how good the current crop of cars is, compared to a field of developed Proxy cars, and how we sometimes over complicate things in an effort to find speed from a slot car. I guess that's what makes proxy's so good. :(

Bring on the next round!

I am dumbfounded, my car moved up from it's normal finishing place. I am pleased to be the second 3rd place car, lol. Thanks heaps for running a round and to the drivers and marshals. Proxy coming close to the end. 3 more rounds!!!

I will update the standings tonight.

Cheers

Thanks for the run and the kind words. I haven't been online much so hadnt noticed the race was run until now. congrats to the winner and interestingly the ortmann cars finished 1,2,3 again. I have no idea what to do in future now i cant get them. proxy's are fun and good for learning stuff and this years race although quiet has been run in a very friendly manner. Long may it continue.
Cheers Trevor.

Ortmann Comps Trevor, much better than the blue Ortmanns, and the latest batch we got in are getting towards where they were before that whole cancer thing... They are consistent on different surfaces, not as good as brm's on a clean track, but significantly better on a green or dirty track. less slip than mjk's so set up is more important, and the paint won't last so well....

Just thinking....where do you get your Ortmanns from?
