I have some Slot.it parts left over from a project that I would like to transplant into my daughter's favourite Scaley Porsche RS Spyder. The spares include the (orange endbell) motor/pinion and complete rear axle. I've opened up the Spyder for a poke around to see what's inside. From what I can see (with my limited knowledge), I think the motor/pinion should be a straight swap over. Likewise, the rear axle with the crown should fit once I source some suitable bushings. Am I correct in these assumptions?

The Spyder also runs a standard lighting kit - the wiring is the first I'd ever seen :bday:. Of course I'd like the lights to still work after the motor swap, so should I just solder the Slot.it motor in place of the original (leaving all the caps and everything else in place)? The slot is run analogue. Any advice on this change-over is much appreciated!

G'Day
First up I have to say I don't have the model your talking about here but a common problem with LMP's is getting the crown wheel to fit under the rear bodywork without fouling. this depends on the diameter of the crown wheel you have there. the Slot-It 27tooth (black ) has a bigger diameter than the original scalex unit and may rub on the body. you may need to drop down to a 25 (blue?) or 24 (green) tooth pinion to clear. you could also try removing some plastic from the body.
I don't know about the electrickery with the lights I usually bin all that stuff when I prep a car for racing.
The motor should drop straight in.

Not sure about NSR rims on slot.it axels. In general NSR axels are smaller in diameter than Slot.it axels. Therefore putting NSR rims on a slot.it axel will result in excessive slop between the axel and rim. This will mean that the rim will stay secured but run out of true. Unless you have bought the specifically sized NSR rims for the slot.it axel?!!
