I was wondering what the general opinion is re: lowering the Ninco classics, particularly the Ecosse Jaguar. Mine is sitting pretty high and tends to want to tip in corners if pushed. I have shaved the sides to allow the body to roll and added weight down the side pans to make it weigh 82 grams. Sanded the tyres down to eliminate the grooves and it handles quite well but still wants to tip in corners.
Your opinions on getting this thing of beauty travelling well most welcome.

Regards

John

Put in an NC8 to give more room and drop it a bit more. NC8's are lower so give more clearance.

Dave used to raise his axle up in the chassis but it is starting to move away from the classic look if you go too far. Also need some practice with this as you may stuff a chassis doing it properly. This will also put the gear mesh out but a Slot.it offset crown could help.

Hi John
Do you still have vertical movement in the front axle? The floppy front axle would allow the the car to tip in bends.
If your rules allow try setting the axle to a desired height ie: just touching the track and fixing it in position. you can do this by fitting some old rear bearings to the axle and gluing them to the axle mounting points on the chassis. you have to be careful not to get glue onto the axle or else it will stop rotating. The method I use is to make up some additional mounts from PC board with a 3/32' hole drilled in them, then set the desired axle height and glue to the chassis.
Also if the rules allow try coating the front tyres with superglue or nail polish. I also radius the outer edges of the tyre slightly as well before coating . this should reduce the front tyres gripping and tipping the car over.

Cheers Alan

Thanks Vince. IOt already has an NC-8. Might try lifting the front axles as this has helped on the GT nincos

Car is going well Mel but I need to nurse it one particular corner. As for 150g, may as well just get a hose brick, drill two holes through it and bung on a set of tyres. Wouldnt weigh much less!

Thanks Alan. I will try this as it has heaps of vertical movement ! The nail polish trick I often do too but it doesnt tend to last to long on Ferrodor!

John, I use Zappagap super glue, it seems to last a bit longer than the nail polish. I apply it by squirting a puddle of SG onto a glossy surface like a on old washing detergent box- and rotating the wheel in the puddle to get a fairly thick even coating on the tyre. Once you have done that you can roll the wheel on the gloss surface to remove any excess and even up the coat. Then let it set. I also make sure that I remove the square edge off the tyre as well as I find that it can dig into a surface like ferrodore.

Yep, my place but am also considering pulling out your old Rally track and setting it up as well! Maybe the NC-1's can do a fewdirt laps as well!

Thanks Alan. Sound as though it will give less grip as well! Always learn something on this forum!

Before you set up the front axle check the guide some of the Ninco guides has a collar moulded on the guide shaft. Changing to a sprung guide without the spring will allow the front of the chassis to sit lower.
