Ive got a carrera car that I want to just change the number on but leave the paint & the rest of the sponsers in tact. Is there a way to just remove the tampo on the car. Or will I have to fully strip it? Seems a shame to ruin the whole cars paint.
Thanks
Greg

Could you polish it off?
Manimmal, Stubbo etc. would be able to answer this one.
Cheers,
Dick

Is the number in a roundel or just straight on the car? If a try what Dick suggested with a mild cutting compound / buff it off with some car polish and then stick a new roundel and number over the top - you may need two roundels to cover it up, or could you mask and paint over it?

Really difficult to do. I did these Aston Scalextric club cars with some very fiddley decalling.

However, you need to mask the area off first to avoid any spread. Use some acetone free nail polish remover (vapour !!) on a cotton bud. If this doesn't work then use Brasso metal polish wadding not liquid and apply it the same way.

Good luck.............

Have a go at painting, you might get to like it.

Very hard to do I have tried and only has one work out O/K. Cut thru the paint on the other two! I used 000 steel wool and metho and very gently rubbed the tampo away.
Masking the area is a great idea. Might help.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have decided just to strip the whole car & start from scratch. I think carrera got the colour wrong anyway & noticed some of the sponsers are wrong or different between the 2 cars. Ill be happier in the long run anyway.

FYI the numbers were not in roundels but big numbers that take up the whole door & roof
Thanks
Greg

Hi Guys
Just getting back into it (a bit) and decided to do a Kevin Bartlet Camaro using the Scaley Sunoco car (yeah, I know it's not the right model but I've ruined my old 1:32 Monogram shell).
I tried a few things and finally decided to try Repo Paint Doctor and cotton buds.
Wow!
It worked a treat, it looks just like an out-of-the-box plain blue car and all the other fine details (hood pins, moulds etc) are untouched.
Cheers,
Charles
