Is this possible? If so, which size, 18mm or 19mm is the correct one?

I wouldn't install a Slot.it spur on a Scalex axle - the serrations on the axle which hold the wheels on will destroy the concentricity of the gear hole. Better to use a Slot.it axle and their 19mm spur which should be a good size match for the discarded Scalex spur.

Thats what Ive done. Ive also done a few cars with a slotit gear & piano wire for the axle. I was out of axles at the time & ended up leaving it.
Thanks

Slot.it make a couple of kits for this purpose.
SIKK02 has the small hubs, with the 19mm spur, and SIKK04 has the large hubs also with the 19mm spur gear.
With the smaller hubs, the gear clearance to track with Slot.it tyres is pretty small, but for you ozzies, you'll probably throw an MJK with decent high profile on it anyway
