Does anyone know where I can find official track marking regulations or guidelines for real racing circuits?
I've seen the red and white kebs, chevrons, white lines arounds the edge, finish line, grid etc, but it would be nice to get the proper rules to enable me to model them accurately.
I have spent some time searching on Google and can't find anything.
Failing this, some decent reference photos might suffice.

Probably your best bet would be to use Google Earth or Wikimapia to zoom in on various racetracks, eg. Eastern Creek, Sandown etc., to get an idea how they are marked. One would assume the markings would be consistent.

Excellent answer, that certainly ticks the reference photo box! It will be a big help. Very clever.
Would still be interested to find any official guidelines.

These are from the European Motocycle Union who are partners with the FIM and conduct race meetings all over Europe at tracks such as Donnington, Imola, Spa, Nurburgring, Le Mans, Monza etc....
Im guessing that seeing these tracks are permanent that there line marking would comply with the FIA standards seeing they use these tracks for classes ranging from WTCC TO F1.
RR07.2.4 Starting zone
The starting zone must be located in a straight of a minimum length of 250 m.
The starting line must be located at a minimum distance of 200 m from the first bend.
RR07.6.6 Marking
On each side of the track, a continuous white line between 8 and 10 cm wide, must be painted on the very edge of the verge or of the kerbs, except at the entrance and at the exit of the pit-lane where an interrupted white line must be painted.
RR07.7.6 Starting Grid
Positions on the starting grid must to be shown with a white line painted on the track (dimensions 80 X 8 cm).
Pole position : 1 m. behind the start line will be decided by the inspector during the homologation of the circuit.
Hope this helps!

I'm gonna give you an engine low to the ground... extra thick oil pan to cut the wind from underneath you. It'll give you thirty or forty more horsepower. I'm gonna give you a fuel line that'll hold an extra gallon of gas. I'm gonna shave half an inch off you and shape you like a bullet. I'll get you primed, painted and weighed, and you'll be ready to go out on that racetrack. Hear me? You're gonna be perfect!
