Hi all.

Thought you might like to see a few of photos of Paul's new Scalextric track. They are not particularly good because of light but will at least give you the general idea. Pretty featureless but serving very well so far as a test track. Lap times now consistently less than 7.5 secs with 7.0/7.1 secs being achieved when we get it right. Paul says he has done 6.9 secs but not in my presence. By comparison reasonable magnet time is mid to low 6's so we have closed gap considerably (not that Magnet cars get raced much). My best time with NASCAR is 8.8 secs but Paul has done 8.5 secs. He of course gets much more practice than me so that is my excuse.

After racing for just on two and a half months non-magnet think we are starting to get hang of it but it might be an illusion. Just appear to be able to put any non-magnet car of track including what we thought were some Scaly dogs and go reasonably well (Paul has done 7.8 secs with Viper). Perhaps it is just the track? Not sure we have necessarily got any faster at this stage but certainly getting more consistent and have all Slot-its (except Alfa which still has magnet) running within about 2/10th's of a second of each other.

Have not done any modifications/tuning of cars yet but that will come. Track was first priority. You might even say we have detuned the cars as all Slot-it screws have been tightened. This has shown up imperfections however particularly with my McLaren and Audi which both came with twisted chassis's.

Hope this is of some interest.

Take one Twisted chassis, clamp to a jig, boil jug, poor water from jug into dish big enough to put Jig and chassis in, drop in, allow water to cool, remove jig and remove chassis... voila, straight...

Thanks Cliffy. Yes have just completed exercise on two worst offenders using instructions on Slot-it website. Afterwards noticed McLaren still on 3 wheels but had screwed body on a little tight. Seems fine now. Will visit test track this afternoon hopefully.

Hi all.

This track has now been sold and shifted to make way for new 3 lane wood track now under construction.

Should be set up again at new home in Fitzroy, New Plymouth in about a month.

Hi Nunu125.

Photo is of our old track now sold. If you look at "New Three Lane track" nearby under NZ you will see our new 3 lane wooden one. Think you find it far more impressive.

Thanks for the interest.
