Trying to get ideas. I am using IR led's so shouldn't need to be too wide. Just trying to see what others have done. Have general idea of what i am going to do but would like to see what others have done for inspiration.

I could take a photo of mine and post it but there is nothing to see as the sensors work fine off the overhead track lighting.

I did see a good one on gascarnut's track on some other forum.
It was realistic with a girder type construction.
Try slotcar illustrated or slotblog for his thread.

My sensors are mounted under the Dunlop bridge and the IR transmitters in the bridge.

This is the bridge used on my club's 6-lane Scaley Sport track. The light source LED's were located inside with holes drilled in the lower panel to shine directlly on the slots. We have since moved the LED's to the sides of the slot where the beam is switched by the guide passing. The coloured LED's you see sticking out of the front of the bridge will light up when a car passes through - a visual indication that the counter is working, one reason why the bridge is still there!

Ask not what MDF can do to you, rather ask what you can do to MDF!

You're absolutely right...in a way! It's the plastic packaging that comes with Xmas tree lights (spray painted black). You know, they wrap the light cable around it to fit in the box!

I believe in reincarnation :D
