Hi all

After many months of spending one Sunday a month tinkering I was finally in some sought of shape to hold my first race meet .
Still with temparary barriers and bits and pieces missing I thought if I wait till it's finished I'd never get to race on it .
Posted Image

At this stage I don't have many detail shots but you can get the idea with these shots from each end

Posted Image

As you can see its a four lane routed track with a lane length of 33m which gives an average lap of 12 secs. and lap record of 10.8......
On Saturday night we raced Classic Sports Cars ( Ninco NC1/8 ) , Sports Sedans and Classic Lemans which saw us going late into the night .

Posted Image

Hopefully over the next few months I will get the time to complete some more scenery fine tune a couple of the more difficult corners .

Posted Image

Thanks for looking , hope you enjoyed .

Regards
Paul

That's a beast !!

and a lot more "finished" than a lot of tracks guys have been racing on for a long time.

Looks like it has nice flow, but also lots of variation to keep things interesting.
How do you marshal that corner right int he middle?

and er . . . what 're those funny flag things on it.... shouldn't you have some red things with crosses . . you know, for 13 states in the south...

Hi Guys

I have to admit being my first attempt I didn't really consider marshalling . Having said that , most of the corners are easy to get to except the 2 each side of the center straight/squeeze . Tall guys no problem but the shorty's need to use a grabber .
. Aussie flags suite me fine . we're talking Texas Qld .

Sorry Stu I don't have a plan to scan in .

That's one serious plate of road spaghetti. Pretty darned impressive that. Looks like some concentration needed just to follow where the cars were going to pop out next.

Well done.

Cheers

Nice work there. Looks like it would be a lot of fun to race on and you have done / doing a fantastic job with the presentation. Will be keeping an eye on this one.

Just one minor criticism - which probably isn't really a criticism, more of an enquiry - Is it difficult approaching the hairpin turn where the blue convertible is parked? It kind of looks like the overpassing track restricts the view from where one of the gents is holding a controller near the start line... Might be an optical illusion from the pics... otherwise top marks.

Hey Quite right , you need to stand nearer to the centre of the track to get a view of that corner . Eventually I plan to use clear perspex guard rail thru the sweeper over to help with the veiw .

All in all not too bad .

ahem, That looks like a hooting good time y'all. That is one heck of a first attempt. Mine pales in comparison as I am sure first timers tracks do as well (except maybe Eno's, is he on here much anymore?) What is the light bridge made out of? Looks like some of that foam with sheets of cardboard on either side. dunno what it is called. Wondering how that would fair vs wood.

Yep spot on with the gantrey , coolite/foam and corflute . The idea was to keep every thing as lite as possible so I can winch it up to the ceiling

Ok , we'll see if this works . This was a video of the track on it's very first day of opperation

Not much happening but it shows 1 lap to get the flow

Shoot, that worked well. Let me try something else. Paul, If I demand you throw a large sum of money into my bank account reckon you could be just as efficient?
....... ah well it was worth a shot.........

Anyway, it does look like a really enjoyable flowing track mate, nice job.

thanks for that Paul, don't get to brissie as much but do get up there occasionally. I mostly drop stuff off on the way up and then go to Ipswich to load back but will keep in touch. thought that track looked a bit flash for Texas :alcohol:

I raced at the track last week and had a great time. It's an enjoyable track to drive at a leisurely pace and a very tactical track when racing on the limit. The mixture of high and low speed turns with large and smaller radius all combine to make the track flow really well. a real credit to Paul's design and I can't wait to race there again real soon. Thanks for a great night Paul.
