slotcarmann
Hi Craig Broken chassis needed replacing. Also as gears had been chewed due to twisted chassis issue, had to replace axles/gears and swap wheels with the control tyres from old axles to new ones. Cheers Dave
branco
Sums up my year, a car with a broken chassis still finishes in 5th place well ahead of my poor excuse of a race car lol Quote 2019 NZ RTR Nationals Gt 3rd 2017 NZ RTR Nationals NSR Classic 2nd 2017 NZ RTR Nationals Group C 3rd 2017 NSR Classic Challenge 3rd 2015 NSR Classic Challenge 2nd 2014 NSR Classic Challenge 3rd 2015 Garden City Invitation Overall Champion

Ember
Doesn't chassis replacement equate to a new car build, even if it uses the same parts? Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. kalbfellp
At least it still uses the same body! Sounds like my Dads old axe,40 years old and only had 5 new handles and 2 new heads. slotcarmann
Hi guys If my car can't be used because of the new chassis, then so be it! After it had broken, it wasn't possible to run it anyway. Cheers Dave
luvhistorics
Hmmm, there's an interesting situation... Can we shoot Bargwanna an email?...... :-) Doesn't bother me that its been fixed, every car is different, it could go either way really... Up or down the ladder... Peter Gunn
Hmmm tricky one this does it mean by fitting a new chassis the whole car has been improved while doing it, from lessons learned so far, does the new chassis match the old in every way e.g weight distribution , from a personal point how would my car fare if the same thing happened to me in Greece, with me in England would the hosts be able to fit a new one presuming there was one , or would I be told sorry I can no longer continue because of a big failure, perhaps the organisers would like to pass a comment on this one. shadow_rusty
Definitely one for the organisers to decide on... Also, would there be a point penalty applied? Personally, I don't mind this car still competing... Just hoping it slows it down a little... lol. kalbfellp
With the rest of the tuning that has been done on some cars,ie gears run in and setup, motors run in to improve revs, why should changing the chassis not be allowed as well. mtucker666
I think that in the spirit of the proxy then the change is fine. I glued on one or two competitors wheels in my round as I am sure all hosts have done. Chassis change is in the same ilk. gazza
In the "spirit" of the event the car should be fine and can run. Behind the scenes, a lot of the entries even before the first round was run had to have modifications done to them to meet or even start, and there is a continuous number that need mods and or extensive maintenance to keep going or even get started for each round. This event has never been about sheep stations, it's about having a bit of fun playing with toy cars, and enjoying the bragging rites after if it ends up on top Of course if it starts out performing Matt's car then we'll have a serious look at it    Quote Quickly read this post before it is deleted or i turn grey again Gary http://www.facebook.com/Rallyproxy2017
slotcarmann
Hi guys I broke the chassis in trying to fix a problem with rear axle coming unstuck at one side. Then I ruined the gears trying to run it, as I didn't realise the original "mended" one was no longer straight. The new chassis is identical and comes from a brand new car I bought with the same coloured body as the original. I have set up the car the same as it was prior to its chassis change. As it has not been run on a track since I fitted the new chassis and axles - the new crown gears aren't run in either - it will be pot luck how it runs, although it retains its original motor. The changes were only made of necessity to keep the car running and not to gain any advantage. Further to Matt's comments, in the course of our 4 rounds many wheels were glued on, axles and motors re-glued, wires re-soldered, a couple of guides replaced etc - again just to keep cars running. Alexis' car has problems too which need fixing now. Cheers Dave
Ember
If everyone else is OK with it then it's OK. I merely felt it needed questioning because the first we heard about it was when it had landed in Greece after the other cars and was ready to run. Remember, we have no idea of what happened in Isle of Man. All we've seen are the results tables. Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. charlesx
Hi all. Go for it as far as I am concerned. The circumstances do not seem normal. In NZ Canam Proxy I was allowed to replace a broken NSR motor mount for an Aussie competitor so what is the difference. We have been informed all is otherwise the same. On the other side there was time to fix problem in this case; the part was available and somebody was prepared to do the work. This may not always be the case. Scuderia_Turini
I guess that the chassis change comes in the category of "servicing" as Dave was replacing/fixing a broken part. Different situation if he had replaced it as an "upgrade". As is well known, hosts do replace bits, including motors. I have personally benefited from this and have reciprocated in a few cases when the cars have been here. Mind you Alexis could hold Dave's car to ransom until we get some photos from the IoM... Peter Gunn
Fair enough as the opinion is we can change anything , was wondering Dave if it had been my car would you have done it for me and used your spare chassis , and where can I get spare chassis from for servicing!!!!! Scuderia Turini, as regards your comment about photos sadly a lack of them this year and info on the cars, need this to keep the interest alive please.
