Hi guys. I have been thinking and thinking for the past month about my new track/s. Anyway, I have decided to mimic Davnic's track 2nd routed track as I cant design anything better than this.

Posted Image

It is fast, flowing and is easy marshalling (particularly when the sons friends and dads mates come over)! I would like to hear your opinions on what you might change on Dave's fantastic piece of work if you were to build this track design? I like it as is and welcome your thoughts.

I love the 3 straights and I am thinking of placing a working pit where Dave has painted his in.

BTW, thanks Dave for the design!!!!!!!!!!

Cheque is in the mail!

I think Dave would be the best one to ask "what you might change on Dave's fantastic piece of work if you were to build this track design?"
Cheers,

Only have the bridge reversed. Run the straight under and the wiggles over, you could do some kind of dogleg swooping section over the top. Best to do something like this in 9mm though.

Thanks Dick. Yeah I have already have.!  It was a toss up between Dave's and your SCMR track. I need it relatively flat as intend to roll it away when not in use so the car is not left outside. I had considered a commercial style track with the triangular legs but I want to do some scenery on the track!

Yeah Thanks Vinno. I am thinking of having at as a mountain drop (slight one) with the back straight elevated and falling down to the front straight which will be flat.

Bottom left hand corner, I would change the kidney shaped curve for one big radius curve. But thats me, I like flowing tracks. Other than that it looks real good.

These two are fairly similar to Dave's track aren't they.

One is the "Flying Cow". But does anyone know the other (with the flags in the background)?

Well I have started. The rally track is on hold for the moment. Size wise it is 16 x 7 foot. I am going to elevate the back section to make the bridge a reasonably easy transition back to flat part. Will be putting in working pits ( research begins at Schueys later this week. Need to still join up the bridge and route that. Once finished I will route the recess for the braid.

One question though; How do you reconnect braid in breaks in the track, for instance the break a pit lane will put in the track. I am thinking of drill ing a hole and passing under?

Also, the 3m tape used to adhere braid to the track, will it work for 3/16 braid width?

Regards

Yngwie, in the first pic I thought "Why hasn't he raised the track off the floor?" :D
Then I saw the door in the background and I realised you must be a dwarf!!! :nice: :band:

Drop the braid through a hole and join with a connector block.
I'm not the one to ask about 3M tape... I will advise you use contact adhesive applied with a squeezey sauce bottle.

Looking good mate, very Davnic74-ish.
Cheers,
Dick

Thanks Shawn. Thanks Dick. Did you find the contact adhesive messy? I have been considering the tape but am unsure if ti will work with the thinner braid I have (like the look of it better). By creating a hole to drop the braid down, does it look a bit silly? Bear in mind that I will be having pits so will need quite a number of holes!

Theres only 1 thing wrong with that track....its not in my garage :D .

Magna braid, or copper braid?...tape is good for magnabraid no good for copper, if i had to do it again i would 3m tape the straights and contact adhesive the corners.

Must clean braid with shellite before sticking to tape.

looking good, cant wait to see the finished product. :nice:

Contact adhesive out of the squeeze bottle produced no mess at all.
My only regret is not using it from the start.

Dick

I soon realized the only why I was going to win was to get everyone buzzed hence making sure everyone had some. Now I left the rest of the bottle with Stu. So if you want more, you'll need to raid his cabinet. That is unless he drank it all. :)

Got a few more things done today. I have measured and since this will roll up when out of the way, I have had to leave out elevations as this would not allow me to get the car in. I really like the elevations but I enjoy getting the car in a little more (only a little mind you). Anyway, here is a few more photos
