SlotsNZ
hmmmmmm, I have WAY catching up to do . . . Mind you, I've only been at this since the start of December.  Ninco - about 30 Scaley - 24 SCX -2 MG Vanquish - 4  Numbers are biased to Ninco because I bought 5 sets plus all the guy's extra cars as a job lot of 2 dozen, nearly all Ninco F1, Rally, and some really early DTMs.  Have added half a dozen new Ninco's a couple of new Scaley and several second hand ones - so far.  Future plans are lots of V8 SuperCars, classics like some more Cobra's, Austin Healey's and if anyone has a used Ninco Jaguar XK120 they would be prepared to sell, trade, or have beaten out of them under extreme duress, etc please holler. I get twitches and start shaking at the thought of owning one.  Also want some Le Mans LMP cars, probably Scaley, for use on wood tracks in particular.  Avoiding FLy, NSR, Slot.it etc simply because I don't want to be the one leading the upward cost spiral from the start for local guys in the club I have set up, so we have set initial class limits that are brand based to make racing cheap, simple and competitive for a whole heap of new-comers to "hard-body" - most of the club are former scratch builder racers from the 60's and 70s, representing at least 8 former clubs around NZ and Australia, and half of them have at least one son (and in one case 2 sons and a daughter) keep to "keep in cars" and pay race fees for . . so Scaley and Ninco are our bread and butter.  Oops, I bought some MG Vanquish cheap . . but if I can get them to run right, I'll get some more from the same source and spread them round the guys for a Can-Am class. Vinno
It took me twenty years to end up with 70 cars. Last year I thought I was doing alright to end up with 99. It appears I am on a spending spree because it is now 145 with no end in sight. Â Around 50 cars are mid eighties to early nineties Scalextric which sit in the drawer unused. They might as well stay there though as they are mostly well used or abused.

Freddy
Each poll is only allowed 5 options so we wouldn't have had enough room for every manufacturer. Edited January 21, 2007 by Freddy Quote Cheers, Frederick
SlotsNZ
Each poll is only allowed 5 options so we wouldn't have had enough room for every manufacturer. Freddy,  I see you list one MG Vanquish in your collection. I just took a "punt" and bought a few brand new ones at a knockdown price. I have read of diff. failures - should be packed with silicone grease as soon as received to make them quieter and prevent diff. failure, and that earlier models are not that fast, front wheels are "hangers".  Have you de-bugged yours? what did you do? how well does it run? Any suggestions? - please don't say "concrete wall at end of track, full throttle"  I can't find much info. and am guessing the ocmpany has gone out of business. PM have parts, but no diffs, . . I guess I ought to carry some tyres diffs - at least myself if I can find them. itelectrical
I think alot of people just pull the diff out if it craps itself and replace it with a standard full rear axle and normal gears. Eno the Wonderdog
I have a fair few of tehm - mostly 'cause they simply exude sex appeal. They had some Can-Am cars at the GP a few years back in the historic feature and they were more awesome than anything else I saw. Â I have an HSRR McLaren but it looks too bloody small 'cause on a Scaley track the VMG cars look as big as they do in real life (ok - perhaps the sheer sound makes a portable magnifying glass) but they're simply awesome! Â I've heard of a few people using the straight axle but I haven't had a lot of trouble with the diffs then again I drive more like Jim Richards than Spoonhead - Gentlemanly like.. SlotsNZ
Insane smallnails, insane ! . . I know this because I started in December 06 too. I have um . . darn . . borrows some toes and fingers . . . . about 70 - and I thought I'd worked hard at going crazy.  Guys, something it might help you all to know.  You may have heard how scientists have discovered dogs can't count past 2, it's like 1 dog, 2 dogs, "pack of dogs", and for cats apparently it's three. . .  well I've discovered that "wives" can't count more than 30 cars, . . . and she has no idea which are which anymore, so as long as she never sees more than "pack of dogs" in a really obvious sense - like a line of cars with numbers in front like 48, 49, 50 etc . . . she just has no idea.  So I have a plan. . . leave all the ones that DON'T require maintenance, or racing at my home track in the next couple of days down at the clubhouse in lockup . . . it's easy. 1 car, 2 cars, "pack of cars" . . problem solved, now we can concentrate on outrunning smallnails . . . and robbing banks . . . .
