pitlane3
Managed some time tonight to draw out the lanes... on the large sheet anyway. Will do the smaller sheet tomorrow, then if I can borrow a router I may have the slots done this weekend! Hi Dick, that would make 3 days late. I thought first laps are getting cut on thursday. knoath
Yeah, they are.... just not this Thursday! ... can I have an official opening night on a Thursday? Embs... yes there'll be about 400mm difference from the crest of the hill on the back straight to the lowest point at the left hand hairpin at the front of the table. I hope to have rolling undulations along most of the track. Quote Cheers, Dick SCMR build thread Woodbrook Valley build thread "A Man's home is his castle, but his garage is his sanctuary!" GTR XU-1
Dick, I like the track plan. I can see you have thought about track access ....unlike me! Rolling undulations always make the track a little more realistic! Dave
knoath
G'day Dave, was just having a look at your windmill! What's wrong with marshalling your track? At least you can access it from all sides... mine's up against 3 walls! Captain
Dick, I'm loving the room you've got there - Great games room. Nice track plan too. I was going to suggest making that hairpin on the right side a larger radius, but I guess you want to be able to access all areas of the track for marshalling. knoath
Thanks for the reply captain (love your modelling work, those dunnies are great!!!). Yes, I need to access that corner of the track as there's 2 corners where deslots could happen, but also for building the scenery in there. knoath
How wide's the new bit, Gref? Is it the 19mm? I'm using 3/16 don't forget... had an offer for a router already, but thanks for the offer. All the lanes are marked ready for routing... this weekend I hope. knoath
G'Day DM! Haven't measured the lane lengths yet, just drew them out! I doubt they'll be equal, but I'm not fussed about that... just drive them all! KarKraft
Dick, Have you seen the latest edition of MRA? A fantastic pic of the Longford control tower and pits. If you want I can post it here. kalbfellp
The Longford pits were built out of telegraph poles! Once Longford closed the pits were removed and transported to Baskerville and used there for many years, just over the hill from Shelmore Park. kalbfellp
wire fence separating each bay looks like it was bought last week at Stratco More likely robbed from the surrounding paddocks! knoath
DM, I wanted to do that for the last track that never got up. Should do it for this one, thanks for reminding me. gref
yep, awesome foe testing/setting up car as you get each lane to drive. Luf also did the same thing with his Nurburgring 5 lane! dangermouse
So this is essentially taking a three lane track into a single? yeah I think it was on SCI forum that I found the pic and the post about it -I think this is a great set up for the lonely racer - as gref said lets you try out all lanes without need to swap the car and controller I think Luf turned his 5 lane Nurburgring track into a 3 - laner with a more complex version of this if you look that up on SCI you will find info on it.. cheers DM
knoath
Had a busy Saturday... had the boys for the best part of the day, then got a window of 45 mins before heading out for the Old Man's 76th Birthday, then out for dinner with friends... I tell ya what... this life stuff gets in the way! Here's what I did with the 45 mins! You may just be able to pick up the lanes in these pics. triggy
Looks like it will be entertaining enough Dick. I just hope the marshall retrieving a car in the back RH corner ( under the pictures ) doesn't get in the way of the drivers line of sight when their car is in that part of the track?
