Hey Paul, looking good.

Are you going to use one of the big-4 digital systems, or scorpius or something else.

Thanks Slotsnz, I have built the track using Scaley SSD 4 lane PB at this stage, I was waiting for the new 6car PB to be released so I can run the timimng etc on the PC but now Rick is close to his release of Scorpius I will invest in that insead, this will double the cars to 8 on the track, should be interesting ;) also with the 4 pits I will be able to run teams with two cars using one pit lane...its going to be good :o

Getting close Rick

I have all the lanes working, three LC's working, done a few laps with a couple of tuned V8's and I have to say that even though the track is still very slippery (Gloss top coat) the cars are really smooth on the track, if you look at the plan the two 90's on the right are increadibly fast if you go from out to in to out again (may be a bit of luck but I got those angles spot on!

I need to get a dS3800 power supply next (waiting for one to come on sale as they always do) I can then get the power to the track more reliably, this will also suit Scorpius.

I have also been toying around with using a horn relay instead of the peco switch, it is 12V @ 30Amps, and it has a good spring return, I plan to power one way and spring return. The SSD signal board operates it ok on the bench so I plan to mount it all on one of the track LC's and do a bit of testing.

Once I get my hands on the Scorpius system I will have a great track that will bring a few racers to my door...thats the plan anyway.

But first I have to finish packing as we are moving house in a couple of weeks(only up the road), but good news is that there is plenty of room in the Gararge for the track and a bar, this will also bring the people I would imagine

keep watching, I will post a few pictures of some of my handy work soon. B)

Update: I have not had much time lately between work and moving house but have managed to get the copper tape down, three of the five LC's are working and I have started doing a few barriers.

At the moment I am running all the wiring under the board and securing it nice and neat, then I will hook up the two remaining LC's, flippers are in just have to fit the electrics.

I have had a few test drives in both 2 lane anologue and in digital mode and it has turned out to be a very technical track to drive, should be interestintg with a few cars racing at once, can't wait really

overall track layout
Posted Image

The tightest part of the track, hard on the brakes then back on the gas for this set of curves!
Posted Image

Start / Finish straight, pits are stil work in progress, flippers are made but will not be operational until Scorpius is used (soon I hope).
Posted Image

Entering pit lane
Posted Image

Exiting pit lane
Posted Image

This is a really fast cset or curves, if you go out to in then back out you can nearly hold full power, a real drivers section leading into the back straight where you can take cars if they get it wrong.
Posted Image

more work and more updates to come...stay tuned, better still call in and have a drive!

Time for an update:

Been a while getting the wiring done, Also had trouble with the paint as the grip was terrible even with MJK's on highly modified V8's.

So had a repaint and it is much better but I think I will go to Ferrodor once I have finished with the build as a top coat, main problem is that it is a very technical track as you can see below so good brakes and good gas out of the corners is more important than straight line speed.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Out of turn one
Posted Image

Down the 1st straight into the 1st of 2 90's
It can get a little crowded here (wait till more cars arrive!!!!)
Posted Image

and out of the 2nd 90 and into the chicane before the back straight (you get about 1 sec at full throttle before you hit the esses)
Posted Image

After the esses on the back straight comes the tight dog leg where you have a couple of options as to how you want to enter home straight or the pits
Posted Image
Same section looking the other way
Posted Image

Finaly the big sweeper leading onto home straight around the hill (soon to be, but if you know the track you know what I mean)
Posted Image
Posted Image

"The kid" going in for the first pit of the day....Stradigy....you know they are good at it
Posted Image

I have taken a couple of videos, as soon as I work out how to get them on here I will

:D :P B)

PS: check out how low those cars are....Thanks Rick  B) :D

Looking good mate, nice to see you "multitasking" to such high degree.

Thanks FS, I think it may well be, unless there is another out there that has not been on the Forum...Rick may know, he knows most of the digital guys.

Thanks Dick

Scenery, well I'm in two minds there, I don't think high risers are a good Idea, so I may actually just have a grass infield, but I will decide what to do after the pit lane with Buildings is done...this will take some time as you know.

Hi all,

Made a few changes to the track

After doing a few laps, as you do... I noticed that the lanes were very even and organised (looks like a plastic track), unlike a routed track should be so I did a few more laps to take note of where some changes were needed.

I think the track is now starting to Flow and also give a couple of challenges with passing, I have a few more ideas but comments are welcome.

Good thing about wood and copper tape is you can make these alterations with ease.

The S after the start/finish straight
Before - note the sharp bends and lines where the tracks meet.
Posted Image

After - this is now much faster and the lines are more natural
Posted Image
Posted Image

And after the two 90 bends the chicane has a better exit (also plan to straighten the outside lane)
Before - even spacing like having two 45 bends
Posted Image

After - the lane cuts the corners as it should making the exit much smoother
Posted Image
Posted Image

I will drive the track some more to find other places where improvment is needed over the New Year Break.

Looks smoother Paul!
Is it more enjoyable to drive (less de-slots)?

Done a few more alterations, I think that will be it for some time, as I still haven't got the timing working yet....keep putting it off as it is not a nice task. <_<
I have the pits all powered up though, just the flippers to liven and then they are all go. :D

The big effort that I have put in over the break has been the track its self

A couple of shots here, you will see the difference if you look back a few posts.
Posted Image

Posted Image

Here you can see the entry into the two 90's is now much more of a 180 on the inside (both are very fast @ 3/4 throttle)
Posted Image

Half way around, good use of blocking by either lane here
Posted Image

And the exit, full gas once you are around enough to keep the rear from sliding too much, if you time it right you really punch out into the straight.
Posted Image

following this exit you have a nice smooth run through the chicane leading into the back straight from either lane
Posted Image

The other change I have made was to remove one of the flippers (things werer getting too busy down here) now you have a better run at the lane of choice heading onto the Finish line.
Posted Image

I'll get a couple of videos so you can see the differences. ;)

Lap timing as I mentioned is next and then I will host my first race meeting. :D B)
