If you want to enter roland you can, i think they way we can run it will be to have entrants email their photos and a small description maybe to an email account that I will set up something like photo-comp@auslot.com then the photos will be posted on the forum. The photos will be left up for about a week then people who wish to vote can send an email of which picture they think is the best to the photo-comp email address, we'll set a 1 week time frame on the voting.

Tomorrow or tuesday ill set up some rules and post them here.
I think it may be fairer to vote in a poll with only one vote per member. If we take email votes it maybe deemed unfair as we could be seen to be voting for our favourite.

Thoughts?

send all photos to one person (michael) who then puts them somewhere for the judges (who ever that is) to view. they narrow the list down to a smaller number, these picks of the photos are put on sit and then its one vote per person.

If a poll is set up it will only work if members vote, all the previous polls have had only 5 or 6 votes so. also as phoeno29 said narrowing the list down, will we need to work out how that will be done, and narrow it down to say 5. maybe the admins can judge the which photos will make the final then have the members vote of the finalst

I like the Poll idea too, might work better now that you have more members.

Perhaps a mention/link of it on the AUslot homepage as well?
Cheers for now

Michael

I agree that some other polls have not been too popular but that may be down to the topic. This does seem to have captured a bit more interest. Pics always seem popular. If you have broadband anyway. Maybe we should consider the size to make it easy for all to see.

We can work it out over the next few days and see I guess. It would be interesting to see how the other forums run theirs. It will give us an idea anyway.

Ive typed up some base rules for the photo competition, tell me what you think and the admin staff will discuss the final rules for the competition.

Rules
1.only 1 entry per person
2.No photo enhancements at all
3.Must be a picture of a slot car or slot car track
4.To enter, the picture you wish to enter in the competition must be sent to the following email address photo-comp@auslot.com (no entree's yet email hasn't been set up)
5.The email must contain 1 photo only and your auslot username
6.After all entree's have been received the admin staff (michael, jacob, vinno, boslot and bump) will pick 5 finalst
7.A poll will be set up with the 5 finalst pictures and each member can then vote for which picture is the best.

thats great, it doesn't need to be any more complicated than that. just need a date for entries closing and and a start and finish date for voting.

Depends on the number of entres, but say if theres 10 or 12 entries i will post them the other entries in this topic, the closing date will be discussed between the staff, but I have set up the email account so you can start sending your taking and entering your photos.

Send entries to photo-comp@auslot.com remember to put your auslot username as well.

Michael

The rules are great.

Jamie

Michaels call on this but it would not hurt I imagine.

Hi Guy's,

Great to see everything ready, my apologies for lack of input earlier but it couldn't be helped.
A couple of suggestions, Maybe it would be a good idea to hold off showing any of the pictures until after the cutoff date of entry and also remove the photographer's name until after the final judging, what do you think.........too much?
I look forward to entering a pic too, not to be judged but just for the fun of it.
Most of you have already seen my pics........prize winning they are not
Rummaged a little more and found a second prize to donate, a Revell Shelby Daytona Coupe body kit.
Michael, I can mail the car & kit off to you if you like or wait till the winners are selected then mail them then. Let me know.

Kind Regards
NimROD

Very good suggestion "remove the photographer's name until after the final judging" Nimrod. Although I think some pictures may possibly be dead giveaways as to who sent them in.

I have a serious question, can we use photoshop to crop the pics and lighten them but not to do any merging of photos ie merging pic of scx rally car into photo of real rally scene.

only thing you can do in photoshop is crop, not lighting, brighting etc.
