Thanks Gref...

I've never seen that livery before, so I suspect that it's been around a while and is no longer in stock anywhere...

I've been wanting one of these since they 1st appeared but my local slot come hobby shop sold out before I could get one.

Almost as new, slightest signs of wear on the braids. Ideal partner for my 156.

Good things take time sometimes,

He also has this one (C2639) also almost as new. If interested send me a PM. about $55-$57AU plus post from NZ

I got my camaro (pioneer)gave it a bit of tuning

Put it on the track an 3 laps later bang it throws a wheel off, I'm not happy for $89 +postage

I don't understand why everybody is happy

Spending that amount

So I had to spend $36 for a slot it rearend kit, its

Now cost me more than a nsr

"It is interesting how the 'wheels falling off' issue from some 2010 production is still hanging around as a popular complaint, 5 years later!! Has anyone had recent experience of this problem on a model produced since 2011? I don't think so. Not in normal use anyhow."

Guess who said this?

Enjoy your purchase Rossko. ;)

GAS41T. Question 1/ How did you get the tread off the rear tyres?

I took the origanal tyres off and put mjk tyres on

Hope I haven't caused an argument I just tell it how it is sorry

As Branco said the wheels set the car off (in both ways for me)

I've only been playing slot cars for 3years so it's the second pioneer I've bought , I know nothing about previous problems with this brand of car

Just ashamed the wheels come off the brand new model !!

I trued the tyres on my Pioneer Camaro on my tyre lathe.

Ran the motor in for 45 mins.

Placed car on track tonight and......nothing!! Traced the problem to a possible broken wire as nothing obvious stood out. Replaced wires with some NSR ones and away she went....perfect.

Now I gotta go buy the red 44 to go with it.

Hi Rossko (GAS41T),

Thanks for the explanation. Don't worry, no argument going on here - I just want to explain what the deal is with the wheel fitment onto these models........

Many years ago, the vote was heavily in favour of a firm push (interference fit) of the plastic wheel onto the hub. This was to make the fitting easier (if you desired) of a set of metal hubs. You could use the same axle, spur gear and axle bearings.

For some users, the decision to do that has backfired - to a certain extent - inasmuch as the rear wheels will work loose if any force or undue torque is applied to them. Under ".....normal use..." as espsix quoted above, the wheel should not become loose BUT if you are grinding down tyres on the axle or even swapping them over with another brand you do run the risk of breaking the seal between the smooth tight fit of the axle into the hub. The act of peeling off a firm fitting factory tyre could easily make the axle slip inside the hub. Once that process has started the only real way to cure it is to add a tiny drop of Superglue into the wheel hub and press the wheel back on - after you have fitted new tyres.

If you are new to Pioneer models, then this wheel thing can catch you out - if you change the factory standard fittings. 95% of folks just run the car as is and never change tyres. You changed the tyres for your own reasons. In fact, you changed a few things. looks like the magnet's out and the entire interior as well.

I guess my underlying point is that if you are prepared to do some work on the car and set it up for 'non-standard' running then a tiny drop of glue would have saved you $36 that you spent on slot.it parts. I don't know what $36 bought you but it sounds like a heck of a lot of money to me.

It is possible that a hub will crack and even glueing will not be satisfactory. Whenever this is the case we will always supply a replacement wheel for you - no matter where you are in the world.

And finally, here's a true story.......

I've got 100's of slot cars (other brands), most bought for 'research' reasons. A couple of months ago I decided to crack open a Slot-it Audi. Nice looking car in matt black. Planted it on my Scaley sport track and squeezed the trigger. Out of the box, mighty impressive performance for about 3 laps but then I noticed something was wrong after a small black round thing came bouncing down the track. A rear wheel! A tiny little grub screw was loose in the hub. I can't be bothered with those 'smallest Allen key in the world' bits, so I glued the bugger back on. Now it's perfect.

Anyhow, Rossko, suffice to say that if you are unhappy in any way with your model, you can PM me and I will do my best to resolve the problem for you.

Cheers,

Jules

I like the Mustang might have to get that one :)

just look it up and the listing said

"New Chassis and Guide" does it go as well as the old Mustangs - sometimes change is a good thing sometimes not.... plus I haven't heard good reports about the Mercury so hoping the chassis on the 'stand is a good one :)
