Scalex 'sport +' Parts

Recommended Posts

hi gang -

recently, as part of a purchase, the seller threw in some spare parts - crowns, axles and wheels .. they are scalex sport + parts ..

are these any good, compared to, say, SlotIt parts??

cheers .. pete canada.gif

problem is they are 3mm parts, not an issue if you have all 3mm parts, but a real bas***d if you have primarily stock parts.

hi guys -

not that attractive?? we have a saying over here : "butt ugly" .. these wheels are that!!

but - looks aside, how are these parts - performance-wise? are they worth the trouble of installing?

Those parts are only useful if, somehow, you've managed to completely demolish the rear axle of your car and you need to replace the axle, bearings, crown gear and wheels in situ. Otherwise I'd bin them as they won't fit anything else. Why Hornby went the 3mm route when almost everyone else was staying on 3/32" is a little beyond me. Trying to boost sales by catching the unsuspecting buyer?

If they are 3mm then get some Plafit axles to put them on, probably cheaper than the scaly equivalent as well.
