I'm getting the power to the lanes working first, apparently you'd removed the wires to allow the track to work without the computers but that the timing will still work or something. I dunno - I'm just laughing and having a ball with the boys doign stuff..

I explained to the missus that I'm adding some bar stools and a bar fridge to the setup before it's done.. I was in enough trouble for that.

..I haven't mentioned I need a TV & couch down there for race days yet..

Forget the bar stools and couch, it's hard enough to get marshals as it is.

Picked up this little item today

DSC01753.jpg

It's primarily a trimmer, but can be used (at a pinch) as a router

DSC01754.jpg

Just started rebating some of the rally sections to replace the tape with braid and it's ideal for any tight sections

Quickly read this post before it is deleted or i turn grey again

My First track was routed using this exact router, and did not have a problem..

This is my second one, the first one did my original 24mtr 3 lane track + all the mods, and the first 2 rally tracks, ended up burning it out ages ago

Yep, I picked up one of these for doing my rails on the HO track; with this jig I was able o make a more accurate cut than with a bigger router:

My only beef with it is that there is no adjustable speed controller :starwars: Which was needed for routing perspex for the intended bridge ...

i was just re -reading the whole thread and the word superglue seems to be mentioned most of the time,,,,,,,,,

it was a good buy to get the aluminium case they selling at supercheap auto

because super glue was always mentioned, i put one little tube in my box............

just when i was going to pack up to go out to race........

due to unknown reasons , my box got stuck forever .

i had to use a dremel to cut it open.

upon closer inspection, i noticed that the lid was shut tgether by superglue .

the tube seemed to sprung a leak and it flowed right through and seeped into the crevices.

carefull with those little tubes mates .

no harm done to the cars but need a few more little tools again........

probably a screw or driver must have poked a little hole in its side

I always seem to be going to the local hardware or hobby shop every weekend to buy more tools for this hobby. There must be a point where you have enough of them and can make do

Intersted to hear what people regard as the essential tools for the sloter's toolbox? I know it depends on what part of the hobby you are into - club racing, metal chassis's, scratchbuilding, or just racing scaleys at home with mates, but there must be a set of essentail tools we all have in common. I'll list what what I think

Basis items

1. Good 3mm screwdriver set

2. Good set of allen keys

3. Long nose pliers and sidecutters

4. hobby knife

5. Pinion puller (Ninco)

6. Jeweller's files

7. Range of glues - Araldite, superglue, contact etc

8. Vernier calipers

9 Paints and brushes

10. Steel rule

11. Hobby scissors

12. Small hobby vice

13. Car setup block

14. Feeler gauges

15. Lube oil and braid conditioner with needle applicator

16. Sandpaper

Nice to have

1. Dremmel

2. Tyre truer
