BMR
BMR has been running since August 2000 and this is the 3rd and hopefully the last track change . The track is 26.5 metres shortest lane lap - 27.85 longest lane lap on a table 10.6m x 3m at its widest point. Its got a constant 40amp power supply , 4 lanes and it uses a dead strip as a link to the computer for lap counting , fastest laps , average lap and general race settings. Occasionally we race 1/24th cars on the track so it has wide lane spacing 100mm minimum and out to 125mm on the fast sweeper at the end of the 7 m straight. Most of the racing is 1/32 scale and BMR track is part of the South City Slotcar Club in South Australia . The photos are arranged to follow in a clockwise direction but the track can be run in reverse for a change every now and then. There are lights for night racing on the track but at this stage there is no braid laid down , so no lap times or any idea of how the Solver paint on the surface will be for grip . up date - most of the racing is 1/24th now Click the pictures to enlarge the photos Im looking for ideas to help the green hilly areas stay intact its cornice cement / plaster over styrene foam then painted with water based paint and the grass etc is held in place by squirting a mix of aquadhere glue and water over the top but it is still a bit crumbly any ideas on a better way to help keep the grass etc in place gratefully recieved. Ontheflipside
by squirting a mix of aquadhere glue and water Hi BMR, Over the years I have done the same but working in the paint, adhesives and sealants industry for the last ^%*% years found that watering down a PVA like Aquadhere (Interior) actually over weakens the bond strength and cracks up over time. The Exterior Aquadhere (a PVA/Acrylic blend) worked better and didn't need as much water to get it to spray. What I have found best so far but a little more expensive is 20% water added to a water based polyurethane clear coating made by Intergrain - called UltraClear (Bunnings should have it). I use the Low Sheen so I don't get a shiny finish on any surroundings. Some food for thought! sidecar steve
I used hairspray as a fixative over the top of grass, etc... Seems to be holding up ok. Bought the biggest cheapest cans I could find. Quote cheers! Steve

Thanks for the replies I will have a look at Bunnings for the clear coat (intergrain) and steel some hairspray from the wifes side of the bathroom cupboard . Im on a tight budget for the rebuild and I have been lucky with most of the materials I needed for the track around the side of the shed or in the shed - house renovation leftovers - the plaster I used was casting plaster and it stays a bit soft so it may not hold up to the abuse of cars slamming into it or the odd marshal arm hitting it but @#it happens it can be fixed huh. Cheers for the ideas.

rick1776
The traction and surface finish in the bowl area are second to none. I helped sand down that section As for the rest of the track.... :( Only joking Steve, looks like a million dollars...err....1/32 scale thats 31,250 dollars. Nice combo of power straights and big drift corners with tight technical infield. Something for everyone. cheers rick1776 Quote cheers rick1776

I set the record... and thats within 75 laps of a freshly painted surface... i'lll answer that for steve... yes its lower but the drivers still have a 6inch step up Cheers for the kind words guys , the 6" step up is so we can get a better view over the centre marshal but Imugford will still have to use the floor Which will put all at the same viewing level as Imug . Imug set a fast time on a dirty slippery new surface 8.9 with his early Monaro / Slottek chassis on sponge tyres at 10 volts - sorry Ian but tonight around 7.30 with a stock Scalextric Aussie V8 I managed a casual 8.1 on 9.5 volts driving one handed ! ( the surface is cleaning up ) hee haa !! Im guessing we will see lap times drop into the low 8s high 7s by the end of the week as the other three lanes will be up and running to try as well. ( Imug can always say he held the first ever lap record on the new layout ) The old layout times were in the low 6 seconds area and a few mid 5s with slot it cars and Slottek chassis on sponge and rubber tyres.
