Another Small Rally Track

Recommended Posts

Decided to build one of the grandsons a rally track for his birthday yesterday. Loves it and handles it well for a 4 YO.

Two days work, I built the track and wifey did most of the scenery.

Firts time I have used copper tape. Hard not to snap it pulling around tight corners.

Did all the routing free hand so a bit wonky in places but does not seem to worry the cars.

Almost finished

Finished with a few trees etc and a fence/frame. Bit rushed to finish it properly but he's happy - so is he's dad!

Great job Mel. Reminds me of when my dad built my daughter Tahlee a wooden dolls house. That is the sort of present a little kid will love. :mosh:

If that's what your idle hands can do in a weekend, we'd like to see what happens when you get a 2 week vacation with no plans.

Very impressive all round.

Fancy a job as an itinerant router-holder? I reckon you could just "home-stay" to "home-stay", get in there, cut, route, glue, paint, tape, scatter, test, leave. (suitably filled with host's food, vino, beir, and folding stuff.)

I can even suggest a couple of people here to send you to first . . . . . .

Just going through some of my old posts and found a couple of unanswered questions

Awesome result for one weekends work! Love the scenery, how did wifey make the rocky parts?

Hi Gref, Used polystyrene foam broken into bits, glued down/filled with No More Gaps then painted over with an acrylic texture paint and then the girl painted with her craft paints

What size is the board ??

Cheers

1700 x 800 (spare piece of 19mm MDF)

The young fella is now 7 and races quite well, although with a younger brother and jealous older sister his cars need some decent repairs at times and waits until I visit with a box full of bits.

Early last year I extended his track to give him a hill climb. It took me two weekends

Brilliant little track Mel.

Is 2 years consideration on a question some sort of record? :P

not for flipper its not

You tell him Viv

YEEHAW got my counters working today need to get lots of laps down to rubber up the track best time so far 12.40 we were doing better than that when Dave was here but timing with a stop watch.

have to go out to dinner with SWMBO so will get a few more laps in later tonight

oldslot post Apr 1 2010, 10:08 PM ....... well it s only been 2 years since this post so time for an update In the time since I posted this I have done some more work on the track got the timers and driver stations set up and they have been working a treat gradually worked the times down into the low 10's have been stuck there for ever then in the last few days I have had a fair bit of time so got stuck into preping a few cars and turned quite a few laps. the track has been coming in and put in some laps in the 10-1 10-2's then tonight cracked the 9's with a lap of 9.94 this is bigger than breaking the 4 min. mile cannot describe how good that felt. the car that set the new course record is a slot-it Porsche that I detailed from a white kit for skoal using pattos decals

Since you are "retired" and obviously pretty handy with a router want to add an extension to "my" rally track, which was yours anyway? :)
