Was there ever a "target" number of signatures? Having said that 151 in 12 months wouldnt rattle my "business" cage. Perhaps 1000 pre-orders at 100 dollars each, lodged at various slotcar retailers around the country with the money paid up front would have attracted some nibbles from southern models.

Not a trivial exercise to tool up for a new car.

only way would be to pay more and go the slot classic way

but thats a big jump in price

they really are worth it though

love their classic wheels too!

I'm currently building at $150 each both the 1974 Moffat Brut Mustang, and the 1971 Moffat Escort. I've done the Geoghegan Mustang (the ninth one will be completed this weekend, and i'm only building ten), the Bob Jane mustang and several others too.

Ok so $150 is not cheap, but hey, they take time and money to build too. I sell them through Ged normally, thus this is less of a plug (ok, it's a plug) and more to point out you can get them made for you, and at a good level of quality using existing mass produced cars as a base.

I know we'd all like to see A9X's, Beechey Monaro's and Hume brothers Mini's mass produced, but the simple fact of the matter, as already touched on here, it's simply not viable in a business sence (some of the mass produced junk out there does make me wonder though).

So, build your own, or find somebody to build it for you. it can be done.

I know we'd all like to see A9X's...........

And why not both LC and LJ XU-1s?

As someone who owned an LC XU-1 and worked within the GMH "arena" back then, who's circle of friends also also owned (and in at least one or two cases, still own) LJ XU-1s, HK GTS (327), HG GTS (350) and Ford GTHO, I'm afraid to admit I find the "I'd like, I want" wanna be attitude of some people, at least somewhat amusing.

I'm number 187 and I think we're all dreaming. Still, no harm in trying...

The Australian racing car enthusiast base is so small and diverse that no manufacturer is going to risk their $$s on a particular car unless it can be adapted from a large production run.

Scaley V8s are, perhaps, the best exception we can hope for (and, If my intel is correct, full marks to Southern Model for getting them up). Anything else will come as a side issue of a world-wide winner (fer eggs ample, if Scaley hadn't done the Mk 1 Cortina, we'd never see the Bob Jane GT 500... that we're all still waiting for...).

Personally, My dream would be to have the full 1960 Armstrong 500 grid but I know that ain't gonna happen unless I build them all myself, which I'm incapable of... (I'd settle for first ever car/driver combination to sign up, car number A1, the Lex Davison NSU Prinz III. But, you can't get an NSU Prinz III in any scale let alone 1:32 so I know that ain't gonna happen in my lifetime.)

In the meantime, I'll content myself with my old cobbled together Monogram/Scaley Kevin Bartlett Channel Nine Camaro and head on out to Finley every now and then to do battle with Phil Rourke's mutton barber mates.

Cheers,

Charles

Hi Chilla,

you can get the NSU Prinz from Revell Monogram, in different liveries,

as they are runnuig in the "Youngtimer Cup" at the Nurburgring within the VLN Trophy.

At times our forum sponsors have them in stock.

They are Prinz TT or TTS depending on engine size.

Hope this gives you some hope. :D

Bring on the aussie race cars. 60s, 70s, and 80, Toranas, falcons, and chargers. in 1:32.

I'm enjoying the thread too. amazing how no moffat mustang or torana was ever going to be built eh!

I see that one company is making 1:32 diecast XW/XY Falcons, and Chargers.

I am ecstatically happy about the news on Armchairracer's site about Scalextric releasing the L-34 Torana. I have at least one each of every Aussie V8 ever released by Scalextric and will probably buy 3 of the Torana's just because i love Torana's so much, i even have a full size version just waiting for a fuel injected stroker motor to be fitted, if the custom aluminium sump ever turns up.

Happy days in the future. :nice:

Thanks so much but. unfortunately, the wrong car.

The first ever entry in our most famous enduro was the NSU Prinz III of Lex Davison and Doug Whiteford, number A1. We never saw the Prinz TT.

Cheers,

Charles

Just a thought but why not push for a newer shape Monaro(02-06) as these cars are sold and well known in Aust as Holden Monaro's,UK as Vauxall Monaro's and the USA as GTO's.If they are worried about sell numbers im sure between the three countrys that can be surely achieved.Same bodies just different badges.I for one would definately take a few of these and i know a few freinds that also would. You would think this is surely the 1st model to push for cause of its reputation in the two biggest sales markets in the world (UK,USA).So i wonder what the excuse on this would be from the manufacturers.

On another note Best news to come out is about the Torana, only hope that we see it this year some time. And a big question is why they are actually doing the Torana anyway if they are that worried about selling numbers (by no means am i complaining about this decision as my first car was a worked LX and i'm definately a Torana lover). From what i have read on Slotforum the Brits think the car is ugly and they dont like it and the U.S wouldnt even know what one is.

Just my thoughts.

Would definately love to see early model Fords and Holdens but i think i would have more chance getting into Jennifer Hawkins pants.lol

I feel kind of special to be 199. Double century here we come!

We seriously need more Aussie cars between 1960 and 1995. I'd love an XT Falcon, the car that moved my family from the Holden camp (ducks away from thrown beer cans). Also have a soft spot for the XP, XW, XB, XC and XF Falcons. The new ones just don't cut the mustard!

Is it funny that there's more brand loyalty in the crowd these days than there is in the drivers?

There are days that I miss living across the road from Sandown. Oh those were the days seeing the big boys wiping out Gemini's by the score.
