Now I can say I have just about finished the pit area, need to tidy up a small run with a blade and route the turn in for the middle bay.

The run off the bridge is complete, and have marked out the definitive layout for the new section, including the pit entry.

Tomorrow hope to make a start on the the corners.

Tell me about it! At one point I asked myself why I was doing it, especially since I was trying to get pit bays and exits all within a stretch of 4ft.

Ummm... hold the phone. Fix small run with blade, check. Re route turn in for middle bay... how about fill in the second attempt and go for a third! My re route was pretty much the same as the first attempt. Oh well, all the rest of the routing is complete at least.

Looks great! Are those fold up legs available individually and attached to your track or are you just sitting your layout on top of a few fold up tables?

The fold up legs are as a pair from Bunnings. They are attached to the table, and the track is fixed to each table. The whole thing had to able to be demountable for moving. Its now four tables of 6x4 ft.

Some more progress shots. Undercoat and first coat of chalkboard paint are down, as are the lane colours. Have put the track barriers up and relocated the drivers station panel. The pits are well, giving me the ... pits. I had a fourth attempt at the middle bay and its still too shallow. As the car turn in, the guide goes to the other lane. May have toputty it and just try to use a blade for the slot and ditch the router altogether. Also have to redo the turn in for the first bay, same problem there too.

Looking good Schuey. Just a question, is there a reason you went all the way on the little straight as the entry to the pits rather than back on the main straight?

John, if you're talking about how the lanes rejoin prior to the table join, its so all joins are straight, not angled or on bends. Secondly, its so a car can come in, pit and re enter before the start/finish line. Thanks for the feedback.

If you stand at the drivers station, the car travel is left to right. So, as you come off the bridge and go threough the new right and left, you enter the pits, and exit and rejoin the circuit just before the start finish line. The pit entry is before the last corner because that is what most circuits are like. Just keepin' it real!

Another update. I think I have finally fixed my pit problem. All lanes are painted, first coat of chalkboard is down, and the rest of the circuit is masked ready for a recoat. Purchased some copper tape today, so might get started on that tomorrow night after painting. I do have a new problem with the pits though. Where the pit bays are, directly underneath is where the table cross beam runs, which means that I can't drill through tp feed wires to tap the small sections that intersect each other. I have a plan for it though, so I'll see how it goes and report on its sucess/failure.

Enjoy the pics!

Gave the new section its final coat today, and the rest of the track a recoat. Next up will be taping and wiring, then the pitlane changers.

As can be seen in the pic, I've made the first two bays turn out before they turn in. I thought of running the red lane wide from further up, but wanted to simulate the tight confines of a pitlane.
