Cheers Paul G'day Paul You don't need to get the rear track down to 60mm, the tyres can be up to 1mm wider each side than the body, but only if you want to. By all means, they can be narrower than that if you like. Mind you, if the XB rear fender is 58mm wide (don't have one on hand to measure), then yes your max over all tyre width would be limited to 60mm If, for example your car is 60mm wide across the rear fenders, your rear tyres can be up to 62mm wide overall. For that same example, if your rear tyres only end up being 56mm wide (well inside the line of the rear guards) that is absolutely fine too. Same goes, if your car is say, 40mm wide, your rear tyres can only be 42mm overall width. Cheers, Shaynus
Oldman
Hi Paul, WINDOWS..sorry i missed the part about windows I would say that a unmodified body would include windows so standard windows would have to be fitted..... ENTRIES CLOSE FRIDAY 17 JUNE 2022 WE WILL WAIT FOR CARS THAT ARE IN THE POST FIRST RACE APROX MID JULY Thanks Oldman
charlesx
Hi Oldman and Sports Racer. Thanks for clarification re windows as I was going to use ones that came with light weight interior. No problem as I have not fitted yet. Will not go back in until painting finished. Also hopefully today but pretty cool weath 60mm should not be a problem as Scaly cars all same width at motor mount. My Camaro is comfortably 60mm and I could narrow further if required. Just fit narrower wheels,/tyres would be one easy solution. My Holden V8's are only about 58mm but constrained by body only. My Falcon even has wide Slot-it N22's on original axle. Think I had to shorten the Scaly axle slightly. Hope this is of some help. Thanks also for clarification re dates. charlesx
Hi Shaynus and Oldman. The 60mm was my idea as the only other eligible car I had was the Sierra. It is much narrower. About 56mm, Axle/wheels width about 54mm. The idea was to equalise the cars a bit. The Falcon XA, XB and XC from the one I have seen is a monster by comparison but I do not have one. As I have said to Oldman before though if people want to put wheels outside body that is fine but to my mind is not prototypical. Sure some of the later cars have widened arches (including my Network 9 car) but car has to be based on standard Scaly car. I accept they are your rules but my car will stay at 60mm. I could take to 62mm by lifting body slightly by putting spacers in back body mounts but I like my cars to look right. That is just me. charlesx
Hi Shaynus/Oldman. According to my information an XC Falcon is 63-64mm so 65-66mm width seems unfair to say a Sierra. Not aware of XA or XB but they will be fairly wide. Regards Chas Le Breton
charlesx
Hi again. The XB is about 62.5mm at the rear arch, which is the widest point - therefore max.64.5mm. That is nearly 10mm wider than Sierra. C Le B
charlesx
Hi all. My Camaro is now rolling as promised and I have started painting with first very light under coat Rear track is exactly 60mm with 10mm rear MJK tyres. Wiring, pick-ups and 7gms of weight fitted directly in front of motor. With your grippy Ferrodor track surfaces I may need some up front as well. Will give it a run tomorrow and finish basic painting. Car currently weighs 76.10gms which seems a bit light. See FB for photos. Regards Charles Le Breton PS. I see a standard Camaro is 62mm so in terms of rules it could be 64mm but I do not recall a photo of one like that at Bathurst. Not sure would even be eligible to race. charlesx
Hi Oldman and all. Gave my Bathurst Network 9 Camaro its first run tonight. Only a couple of laps without body and weight to check everything revolved ok. MJK tyres very shiny (original) but not hiccups. Guys were really empressed with body/decals etc. See photo on FB. Still a few things to do. Need to fit lead, light weight interior, Scaly windows and paint a few details I missed. charlesx
Hi all. My Bathurst Network 9 Camaro is basically ready to post so not bad for a little over a week. I have had other things to do as well. Pretty happy with result by my standards. Will add some tyres to trial on track and ease body/chassis as allowed by rules prior to posting Monday. See Facebook for the latest photos (Taranaki Slot Car Racing Club). Regards Chas Le Breton
