A couple of other questions for you With the FF050 motor used in Torana's, Cortina/Escort models can you modify and swap them out for FC 130? and are the slimcan motors eligible while rated by Scalextric at 18k they are not as most spin up around 25k???? Same goes with the tyres just outside the body. You certainly don't have to have them protrude, but if you want to (for what ever reason), you can. Using a lightweight interior should free up room for the mabuchi motor to clear. I thought that was just closing date for entries. Appreciate it is your first proxy so I would suggest earliest posting should be 1 month after closing of entries but I will try to get away by 17/6. Perhaps you did not expect to attract O/S entries.. Based on your recent post Shaynus any motor is allowed up to 25000rpm providing motor orientation is as original. You could use an NSR Mosler type FX180 or Slot-it flat can but please advise urgently if this was not intended. Flat cans are about the same length as the slim can. I am just going to swap Scaly FC130 for better version of same. Note my Sierra RS500 wheels/tyres are only 54mm wide so the 1mm rule might suit them. Note Sports Racer in Touring Car proxy limited Mosler tyre motors to 21400rpm if my memory serves me correctly. Looking forward to proxy. Regards Charles Le Breton, New Plymouth, New Zealand. Sports Racer Posted June 7, 2022 Report Share Posted June 7, 2022 (edited) Can I use my Ford XB chassis that I've added extra plastic ribs on the inside to strengthen it? From underneath it looks standard. It already has MJK's. Are you going to remove them to put yours on? Can I lower the body on the chassis? Can I raise the front and rear axles so the chassis sits lower? An earlier post suggested max rear track be 60mm but my XB is 61mm wide and still fits within the body. Bet when you thought of this proxy you didn't expect turkeys like me stretching the rules to the nth degree. Probably why my local club made me scrutineer. charlesx Posted June 7, 2022 Report Share Posted June 7, 2022 Hi Sports Racer. Hear what you are saying but 60mm was to try and even out field as many earlier Bathurst cars were much narrower. Surely you can shift the wheels in a bit. If not install narrower tyres/hubs. Some of the other questions you raise however seem well outside brief for this proxy. It says standard Scaly body and chassis. I take that fairly liberally to mean no additions apart from that stipulated (motor, guide, ali wheels, tyres and gears) and only minimal deletions so allow change from FC130 or slim can motor or the a bit of body float. With only 9 days before I have to post my car I implore the organisers to keep with the original rules. I too have other cars that include many of Sports Racers changes but I am building a new car to comply with the rules for this event. Have rolling chassis nearly finished complete with motor, ali rear wheels plus front tyres. Currently fitted with Slot-it wood guide but wondered if it needed shortening as I might otherwise use something else. Rear track/tyres are exactly 60mm (as I suggested) with MJK tyres loose fitted but I can narrow a bit if required. I only have a limited amount of MJK tyres so Syd will probably find some more suitable ones. Parts used include 25000rpm FC130 (proof of rating will be provided), light weight interior and windows courtesy of Munter/John Warren and driver from 1/32 metal car. I have retained the Scaly front axle and wheels but may change as axle fairly narrow. Current fitted with MJK tyres which are likely to change as too soft. Very easy preparing a standard car (with minor alterations allowed) as there is little you can do to chassis or body. The Camaro is an easy car to build. For Syd's benefit the 4219 MJK tyres are the right size diameter wise but hopefully he will be able to provide some wider ones. Going by rules looks like I need to do some MJK tyre research. Do you know what others use. I mainly have rally tyres. As promised will put a progress photo on Facebook. Regards Charles Le Breton PS.
