Hi Sportsracer.

MrSlotcar apparently sell braid (www.mrslotcar.com). Personally I have used copper tape for my last 2 tracks as it is so much cheaper. By indenting it like braid (only 0.1-0.2mm) it lasts fairly well and is easily repaired. Regards Charles Le Breton

actually no! I had some leftover from the last track but it disappeared in the move. I cant remember what this paint is called but its water based and I gave it a clear coat

One coat of clear, undecided if I should do another? Now just gotta get some braid and fences/walls, because if the power is connected before fence = broken cars

Hi Gref.

I just brushed on acrylic as I was told not to use a roller but next time I think I would roll and then brush. Then put on 2 coats of Cabots Clear with brush as pot suggested. Very happy with surface but not as smooth as two pot jobs. Does scuff tyres slightly whereas 2 pot jobs just polish tyres with minimal wear.

Have been following the build, nice work Gref. With the track joins, have you designed them to pull apart, or going to braid straight over the top?

If you have pics of a pull apart join, keen to have a closer look if possible.

Looking to make a join that'll align well consistently, but is also easy to connect/disconnect for a hinged track.

Cheers

I rolled on 3 coats of paint (plus 2 primer) and 1 clear coat

Braid is down, now onto walls/fences then power, or maybe power first and careful laps

Here's how I made the braid joins on removable sections, al put together with no power taps and cars do a full lap with 9 volt battery

Been a while since an update, motivation dropped among other things. Will hopefully have the walls/fences done today and then power is next

Not much of an update, but i ran 200 laps in each lane with my NSR McLaren on Tuesday to see how lap times came up. I then ran all my NSR race cars on 20 lap qualifying for comparative lap times.

Love the track Gref,

wish my bloody house would get finished, I am getting itchy and watching your progress only makes it worse.

Well done. Don't suppose your mate would like to build a few lane changes for me would he. I have had a crack and failed miserably. Was just going to insert a Scaley panel if all else failed.

not sure mate, if he sees this he can comment as I'd hate to commit him to anything either way. From my experience, the best thing to do (as I found out after I binned them) is keep the part you cut for lane changer as a stencil as it is the exact size/shape you will need. On my previous track I made flipper from Perspex as it was easy to work with and I knew no different

After much frustration with cheap pinstripe tape and it continually lifting, I got 3M and now have lines. Not perfect but good enough for now

Haven't updated this for a long time, track is pretty much finished, now start on scenery. I'm starting with what will be the centerpiece in the pit building. If only I had the room that I had on my first track, I'd love to have that space:

But I don't so gotta scale it down, so far I've cut these up and now just gotta put together the jigsaw. It wont be perfect, I put an angle on the door heights as I will have to fit the base to pitlane as it is not flat.
