congratulations 32 Coupe, Sports Racer and Dp201 on your win and podiums.  There is definitely something a miss with m Clio, it should not be slow down the straight. Race on we will work on the cure for next season.  Thank you for posting the results and hosting our toy cars.

Nice and tight in that upper midfield.
I’m doing ok for not actually racing ;) !!

Couldn’t make it to Bob’s - sorry Paul - but as you say it’s a track we don’t run very often so really quite a level playing field.

Hi all.

This is some seriously close competition. Great to see as so often there can be some real dominant slotties. Good to see you still hanging in there Sports Racer but it is anybodies competition at this late stage even. The second group of 4 are also very close and capable of advancing if any of the from 3 faulter.

Look forward to the next lot of videos.

Out of curiosity - how is my entry placed in the 'in-line class' ?

I think there's a distinct difference in the performance of the various motor layouts in this Proxy....

Cheers,

Tony.

There's only two questions:

1. What direction do you go

2. What's the Lap Record?

Have a look at the best (fastest) proxies. All the good cars have anglewinders with small can motors.

In the inline class you're competing with Lancelot, DP201, Brooksy, Dixie, Aloha, JohnnieE, Nonfractual, old man and Pepsi

For once i agree with Paul on this , not very often we do agree these days, but looking at proxies as a whole it,s a winning set up been chatting with some chaps over the pond on this very subject  it,s this set up that all the regular top runners in say the Can Am and 997 proxy's are using

Sorry Sports Racer and Peter Gunn but there is more to Slot Cars than outright speed. Close competition is what makes a good proxy or any event for that matter.

I have been in many proxies over the years including GP,  rally, historic, Canam etc. They were a;ll great events.

In NZ we are going through a stage where slotties are adding weight. Far more than is actually required to get a good handling slot car. It is just like adding extra magnets to a magnet racer or stronger glue to a metal car track. It might make them go faster but does not improve the racing. I have an NSR F1 which is great to drive but is in-line and has no weight. Our National rules dictate 10+ gms of lead is a requirement. Locally we also race Slot-it Group C standard except tyres. They go great so why add weight. It is the same for everybody.

We are all about to enter various proxies together (Bathurst Proxy for Sports Racer and Tasman Cup for Peter). Neither allows angle winders so bring it on.

My point exactly Charles it,s not about outright speed , but it counts to be competative to have the same sort of performance not just 2 or 3 people who are let's face it in a class of their own, hence my preferance for just one type of motor proxies like in the WRP .

Paul prefers a more open proxy  as regards motors but after the debacle at the beginning of this proxy where there were cars which were above the mag requirements , as lets face it not many of us have mag masters i feel that a one type motor might be the answer here , but it,s Paul's proxy he makes all the decisions so it,s up to us to enter or not to enter.

This has been a long winded proxy for one reason or another have noticed very few people comment on it these days but for the usual suspects , like all proxies interest wanes the longer they take between events , the only interest in this one really are the videos , the results were forgone at the start , as Paul himself says in his latest review those 2 cars are the fastest overall  , same as last series, were just here to make Sports Racer and 32 Coupe look good chuckle :D and fill the slots up

I personally have no problem with the "open" motor rule, I think it makes for interesting comparisons between different makes , types and layouts of motors. I am more than happy to admit that it is more than likely because this event is only the 2nd proxy I have ever entered into (the 1st being the previous edition). Old hands at entering proxy racing events probably take for granted the things I am still discovering. No doubt a lot of the entrants have probably forgotten more about setting up a good proxy car than I the little I have learnt so far - as my far from stellar results show!

I had an idea about chassis design. My 1st was a failure, but that was more to do with what little I knew about 3D printing at the time. My chassis for this event has lasted so far, but is still uncompetitive. But now I know it is a design fault, not a manufacturing fault that is the cause, so for my next entry I have other ideas I want to try out. They too, may not work as I hope, but I won't know that until compared to the other entrants. That is what makes these proxy series so enjoyable and interesting to me, even though I am only seeing the tail lights of the many cars in front of me in the standings.

B)

We all have to start somewhere! :D
