Sports Racer
There's still another 6 cars to come but here's the scrutineering of the 18 cars I have. I'll let the videos tell the story. 32Coupe, BARacer, bov, Brooksy https://youtu.be/7RPq7B9N4yE Brumos, charlesx, curef99 https://youtu.be/su5VvNgycIQ Dixie, DP201, jimmyslots https://youtu.be/vVZgWMLpP9I JohnnieE, Nonfractual, old man https://youtu.be/9B3lbZ6FujE Pepsi, Peter Gunn, Shaynus, Sports, sticks https://youtu.be/JNSTpRfNDys So, a bit of disparity when it comes to motor magnetic downforce. The rules state max of 30 grams downforce and until I get all the cars on a magnet marshall I won't make any comment other than the penalty is 5 points per round. This only applies to tracks that have magnabraid of which there are a few. Cheers Paul Edited August 23, 2021 by Sports Racer 1 Quote May the downforce be with you. Nonfractal
Nice breakdown of the cars in initial scrutineering. Test 1 was not a disaster for the Megane. Phew! Looks like the V3 Ortmanns worked reasonably well. Very happy Alan w. (NonFractal)
Brumos RSR
I thought that was a GREAT showing of the cars Sports Racer!!! That one eleven is going to be a tough car to catch. But I must also say, that all the cars continue to get quicker as I campaign in my 3rd Touring car proxy.
bov
Hi Paul, Nice presentation! Some interesting builds - curious to see how the 'Pip' guide mount works out on Shaynus' car... My intention was to enter a S/W set-up, but I ran out of engineering talent...... The Renegade BB motor in my Merc is something different - no magnet effect, but smooth... Probably when you measure the mag d/f on the Mag Marshall, the tire diameter / ground clearance will greatly reduce that motor d/f - otherwise...... Quote Cheers, Tony. There's only two questions: 1. What direction do you go 2. What's the Lap Record?
Sports Racer
I'm not a fan of the guide setup on Shaynus's car. Last year his car would drive well for a few laps then deslot without warning. I think it was because the chassis sets up a vibration through the long guide mount. Not always there but when it is it greatly reduces the guide's ability to stay in the slot. Quote May the downforce be with you.
Shaynus
Thanks for the Shake down /qualifying runs Paul. I think next year I'll revert back to a more normal guide set up. Last year the quality of (my 3D) manufacturing was pretty dismal so couldn't tell if it was the design or execution that caused the drama. This year hopefully it will hold together better, so it looks like it the design of the guide holder needs to be scrapped. Oh well! That was the reason of me trying the design in this proxy to get a bit of trial by fire. R&D... racing and disaster, er, research and development! charlesx
Hi Paul. The back of my body/chassis is quite loose (up and down) but will bind if pressed down hard. Should not be necessary to sand tyres but do sidewalls if you must. Tyres are very narrow as it is because body so narrow. Motor is an NSR Baby KIng. Whole car is a bit of a hack job but just put back in box if you want. In hindsight I wish I had left in original Scaly set-up as It drove much better then. Great to see all the other cars. Nonfractal
Paul, The motor in the Megane is a scaleauto sprinter2 SC0025b. Roughly equivalent to the NSR king (purple factory fit motor) except that its power delivery is a little less "grabby" than the NSR, smoother to drive, rpm slightly higher than spec.
