Wobble 106 Report post Posted June 26, 2020 These el-cheapo FF's might be of interest to someone wanting a few less horses than the Scaley '18k' ??? rocket motors. They have marginally higher revs than a SRP 18k FF at 12v but as they only arrived today I haven't had a chance to try one as yet. - https://www.ebay.com/itm/2PCS-MABUCHI-FF-050SK-11170-Micro-Motor-DC-9V-12V-17500RPM-for-Car-AV-CD-Player/262360539801?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
mattcrackers 71 Report post Posted June 26, 2020 Looks like the same seller who was selling the cheap Avant Slot chassis's some years back. Let us know how the motors run. cheers Matt
Oldskool62 2 Report post Posted December 16, 2020 (edited) Old thread but here we go. What did these motors perform like. I was looking today at some and I thought they might be worth giving a go? Edited December 16, 2020 by Oldskool62

Must have a hunt around and see if I can't find them and pull finger and get one into a car.
Vinno 84 Report post Posted December 16, 2020 Pretty much as the first description, slightly more revs than the SRP 18k motor but also with a little less brakes. I got some for the Scalextric Torana’s as I don’t like how much grunt the standard motor has. This motor puts it on par with the Scalextric Mabuchi motors in the Falcons so good in that regards. As they mention they are used.
Oldskool62 2 Report post Posted December 16, 2020 Cheers for this. I picked up a couple of Torana bodies that I want to put stock chassis under. The Scalextric FF motors from suppliers are around $45-$50 so I thought these motors I have seen online might be the go. I did notice some of these motors are used in a heap of different things. That's why I was wondering what is the difference was between the Scalextric and other applications.
Kevan 8 Report post Posted December 16, 2020 I bought some over 12 months ago, no brakes, back in the bag, back to SRP motor. 1 Quote If you have everything under control you're not trying hard enough

Did you send him a couple later than when he replied? I am doing 2 x L34's and the motors are the only thing missing. I have been looking for a couple of C8301 motors and the places I have contacted seem to be sold out. So I am on the look out for two.
Peter Gunn 84 Report post Posted December 27, 2020 Seems to be getting difficult to get lowered powered ff cans , as far as i know SRP are finished and looks like the 18k has now joined the 16k as unobtainable , has anyone tried the 16k PSR ff motor ? if so be interested to know how it performs. Let me know if you want a couple of motors and where you are? Once I have the Morris Torana running I am going to trial it with a 28 crown gear to see how the braking is. As mentioned this motor has a little more grunt than the SRP but isn’t like the Scalextric FF which is just too much in my opinion. I ran my Brock Torana against my Moffat race tuned Falcon when my son was down the other day and they were a good match. The Falcon had a little more legs down the straight but the Torana had better braking so they were reasonably even. Looked good running around together. 1
