Sitting on a JS chassis and will run the same motor and gears as the slot it DTM models as per HBMRC club rules

I used Munters resin flared wheel arches and the rest of the flare kit is custom made. Still needs a few touch ups and final sand and paint

Is that based on a Scaley Beemer like the red one Dave?

Yeah, that is why I added the pic of the red one to show what I started with

It has taken a fair bit of work so far

Wow that looks awesome Dave. What a transformation!

That it is, even converted it to a 2 door coupe as it was orginally a 4 door

The e36 that raced in the DTM series were 2 door models

It looks like you have put primer on a SOB Scalextric car! You have done an amazingly neat job there Dave to achieve a factory finish.

Were the resin flares for a BMW or a generic set you made to fit so well?

Awesome job. I was pretty sure that was the case knowing how you can make a sows ear into a silk purse. Looking forward to the end result.

The wheel arces are made by Munter as shown in pic below, I had to sand the body contour before gluing on, then sanded the outside edge to the shape I was after

Front has been made by adding styrene sheet and then fill with JB weld and smoothed off with model filler, the side skirts I shaped with balsa wood first and pressed into modeling plaster to make a mould then filled that with JB weld. Not the way I would have done it normally but had to make do with what I had at hand. Once they were glued on I smoothed out with the filler.

As I said it has been a lot of work but it is what I love to do

My next project is this Holden VK Commodore for the ATCC proxy

It has same wheel arches that Viv fitted to a Munter body shell

Thanks Mark, I hope it goes as fast as it looks

First time I have used a JS printed chassis so not sure how well it will run

If it doesn't meet my expectations I do have a slot it grpc chassis in the parts box that I could fit under it

From what I have heard they are fine. May not be as stiff as an Olifer one, but for our flat tracks, and with the normal motor/pod drive setup it should perform just the same as a Slot.it or Olifer chassis base.

Interested to find see it rolling, because as I understand it, JS are cheaper and you can deal direct with them

Chassis is plenty stiff enough and fairly solid, not s brittle feeling as the likes of shapeways

Looking good Dave!

I'm not on FB so how does one go about getting the JS chassis?

The JS Chassis range are ex the UK and only available via Facebook. They have a huge range - a lot are for older Scalextric cars - but they are constantly updating their catalogue. Most of the chassis's are only £4 and postal rates are very fair. You can choose long can or FC130 motor too and select bell end or can drive for the FC130s. They are a really good bunch to deal with - mad keen slot racers who love seeing the older cars achieve some real performance.

Podiums are for short people.

Been talking with John May today, he was saying most chassis now 6 quid plus P&P - but that's still pretty reasonable. Same price for the one piece as for the ones that take a Slot.it pod.

I didn't ask about prices for any of his other products, but i imagine they are also pretty reasonable.

This is their FB group for anyone wanting to join and browse themselves https://www.facebook.com/groups/334624240364589/

This is the current JS Chassis product list. They are currently in lock-down like us so can't send anything out. But they are happy to take orders. Payment required when the order is about to be shipped. Most chassis are 6 quid each.

I think I will grab a few, so anyone else from Hawkes Bay club who wants any, we can combine and just split the postage between us.

I'll copy this post over to the hbmrc club page and have put on our club FB page
